This is an extremely solid, original, numbers-matching 1959 Triumph TR-3 that would be a great candidate for restoration, or it could be a driver with a little work. It sat in storage for many years, but it runs and drives and has a clear title. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirms that this car retains its original engine. It was originally signal red with black leather interior and fawn convertible top. HISTORY: I purchased this car a couple of years ago from the previous owner’s estate. I was told that he purchased the car in the early 1960s and was the second owner. The car originally had a wide-mouth grill. He really liked the look of the small-mouth grill and wanted it to be British Racing Green, so he replaced the nose section and repainted it back in the 60’s. I can’t find any evidence of previous damage, so I think it might be accurate that the nose was converted to small-mouth just for the appearance. BODY / FLOORS / FRAME: You can see in the pictures that the body, frame and undercarriage are remarkably solid and original. The only rust I found was the spot in the front of the driver’s floor that can be seen in one of the pictures. The bumpers and chrome look original to me. There are some dents, chips and scratches as you would expect for such an old car, but it would be difficult to find a better car for restoration. MECHANICAL: This car starts, runs and drives, but it has been in storage for many years and needs to be gone through before putting it on the road. The engine compartment looks very correct. The transmission and clutch are operational and the brakes are a bit soft. This car should not be driven on the road until it has been thoroughly checked out. The tires have good tread and hold air, but I assume they are pretty old. INTERIOR / TOP: The pictures show the condition of the interior. It is correct and complete and is okay for a driver. The convertible top frame is nice, but there is no soft top material. The hard top is included, but I don’t know if it is original. Some of the hard top mounting hardware is missing so it is attached with some wires and straps. There are no side curtains. ELECTRICAL: Most of the lights and gauges work, but a few don’t (should be minor issues.) RESERVE PRICE / BUY IT NOW: I set what I think is a very reasonable reserve price. To keep the auction fair for everyone, I don’t disclose the reserve price. I also do not have a buy it now price. I prefer to let the auction run to completion and let the market decide what price is fair. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS, WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. The balance must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or wire transfer within seven days of the end of the auction. Any cashier’s checks must clear my bank before the vehicle can be released. If the winning bidder fails to pay in accordance with these requirements, I may, at my option, make second-chance offers or re-list/remarket the vehicle and the deposit will be forfeited by the bidder to help cover the extra expenses. I retain the right to end the listing early. The sale location is Bell, Florida, Florida law governs, and venue lies exclusively in Gilchrist County, Florida. SHIPPING / PAPERWORK / SALES TAX: Arranging and paying for shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. I am a long-time classic car enthusiast and a licensed automobile dealer (Classic Investment Motorcars Inc.). This means that we must complete standard sales and transfer forms, and if you live in Florida or want to pick up the car personally in Florida I must collect the applicable sales tax and tag/title fees from you. If the vehicle is shipped out of Florida by common carrier or a shipping company I will not be required to collect the sales tax.
