Vehicle Detail
Here we go again! Cleaning out some items from my home here, nice items that have been well taken care of - most relate to antique cars and trucks as well as collectibles and home decor items of many different types. All are being sold on a one-time-only listing with no reserve! Each item is described as noted as I am very familiar with each of the items and their condition, my personal items. Great deals if you are in the market!***** This is a restorable vintage Chevy (Tri-5) that I just took out of long term storage (20 plus years) - another project that never got done! This is a 1957 Chevy 210 - 4 Door Wagon with the original running 6 cylinder motor and original manual 3 speed transmission on the column. Car is running, driving, shifting and braking - is in need of fine tuning and restoration, but a pretty complete original and a model you seldom see - let alone find for sale reasonably - this is a no reserve sale, one bid buys it. Will be listing it only once!***** THE GOOD: This is a complete car, is numbers matching car except that someone along the line put 15 inch rims on it - even the generator, radiator and bumpers have original 57 numbers on them! This car runs without smoking, shifts and moves fine and has adequeate brakes to stop. The chrome is generally good and complete, the glass is all there and fine except for a crack in the driver's side window flat glass and some delamination on the vents both sides, and the interior is original except for some carpet put on the rear wheel wells through the years. Under hood is complete, has canister oil filter and original generator, manual brakes and even most of the lights and dash items work. Car is restorable, will need some light work to be driven long distances, but a pretty neat machine that could be left as it or restored to various levels of finish. Upholstery is original, headliner is intact, and rear decking rubber is there and serviceable. Car has had a couple of brake lines, a tune up, new tires mounted and balanced (radials, 15 inch, matching, have 1000 miles on them), and had the points cleaned up to get it running (running off a temp gas tank under the hood, Crosley oval gas tank NOT included in sale). Also NOT included is the battery you see as I had to borrow that from my tractor to start the car for this sale. Included are the door panels and other parts (crank handles, inside window metal frame molding etc...) that are not shown installed on the car. This is a classic car at an affordable price!***** THE NOT SO GOOD: Car is restorable and not mint (probably a 4 or 4+ on a 6 point price guide), it has some bondo in bottom of both front fenders, does need upholstery work on door panels and on driver's front seat bottom cushion, has had new floor pans in main seating area put in but are molded tin with rivets and really need to be molded steel and wire welded (see pics), has a couple of dents in the roof from a tree that went through the shed (but not structural), has one cracked door glass, is missing all hubcaps, radio, spare tire, owner's manual, jack, and it will need its' gas tank redone and a new filler neck hose installed (rust in tank and hose deteriorated, why I am running a temp. tank). Car was probably a butternut or greenish color and white originally although I have never decoded it, and there is a bad exhaust leak at both the manifold connection and also at the muffler. Carb will also have to be redone, although it is running and not leaking, a bit tempermental as to choke operation. This is not a rust free car, although the underside rust is not structural, the worst part was the floors that were cut out and repaired, but poorly done. Paint was done a good 20+ years ago, does have some peels, some chips, and some areas where the repairs need to be redone.***** THE NUMBERS: Data plate is on the firewall, reads: STYLE: 57-1062 FC, BODY NO: J188 8, TRIM 660, and PAINT: 820/C EZI. The vin plate is riveted to the driver's door top portion on car and reads: 57J262741. With this sale the buyer gets: (1) a bill of sale, (2) a copy of the title signed off by the previous owner to me and (3) a real title signed off by me to the new buyer once I get it back from the state. Having just decided to sell the car, I will turn in the title to the State of Illinois to get the car in my name, when it comes back from the state, I will sign off on it and send it registered/receipted and insured mail to the new owner or they can pick it up (if you are not willing to wait to get the title, please don't bid). Getting the title back may take a week or a month, I cannot guarantee how long, but I do have free and complete ownership and a good title on it currently (just in the previous owner's name and signed by him) and I will pay to have it put in my name, to send it to the new owner etc...***** This item can be paid within 3 days of the end of the sale by Paypal in full. Once paid, it can be picked up - I will help load at no charge. Car can sit here for 30 days if paid for up front with no storage charges. After 30 days, it gets resold and any money paid is not refundable. I just want this car to go to a new home with it moving out in a timely manner from here. Item located in Watseka, IL (zip 60970), in a rural area, located on a farm with easy access, easy loading and nearby connecting roads. I am 1.5 hours South of Chicago, Illinois and about 15 miles from the Illinois and Indiana state lines in the east of the state in Central Illinois. I am not a dealer, but a pretty heavy collector who is cleaning out some storage areas and selling about 5 cars that have been here for a good long time! If questions, don't hesitate to contact me, I am happy to work with you. This sale is for the car as is, with no warranty or guarantee, where is in terms of location, and with no return. Please don't expect to drive it home, it really needs to be trailered or towed to your location and then sorted out to make it more dependable etc..., remember, I just took it out of 20+ year stoarge and it is a 55+ year old classic! Just another great eBay deal!*****On Dec-01-12 at 12:17:20 PST, seller added the following information: I checked the seating, rear seat (one in the back two doors) is a split seat, looks like a jump seat that is about a third of the seat, the other part is about 2/3 of the seat and it also is a seperate seat from the small one. If you pull up the bottom cushion of each, there is a rod folded down on it, fold the rod completely over to the other side of the seat and this becomes the support for the seat as it makes into the deck floor behind the front seat, both seats do that and the backs are with original ribbed rubber mat. Behind this seat is a hinged panel that has two grab hole handles in it that allows it to be folded up or folded flat out, when flat out, it becomes the rest of the deck with rubber that extends from the back of the front seat to the rear of the cargo area. When you pull the back piece hinged up, it looks like it was meant to be a seat facing backward, although I do not see or have any cushions to go on it, which it probably had somehow at one point. Underneat the back deck folding piece is a door with a hole for pulling upward, and it also is hinged and there is a spare tire well there. The tire and rim are missing, the jack is missing (looks from the original diagram on the back of the lift up panel that the jack stratled the tire and was held in two indentations on each side of the spare at the floor above the spare, but below the deck. Hope that helps. Dr. Brian
