Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1961 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Hardtop. It is a great car and a fairly rare body style. The car has the 394 skyrocket engine with 325 horsepower, and the turbo hydramatic transmission. The car runs and drives well, the engine doesn't smoke or knock it runs really good and the transmission shifts really nice too. The car is in all original condition which is really hard to find after 51 years. The interior is in good condition the front seat and carpet are starting to show wear but overall it is pretty nice. Three of the door panels are in great condition and the driver one is showing wear on the bottom since it gets used the most. The headliner is complete and still in place but one of the bows has come off, I put it in the trunk for now. The dash is in really good condition the gauges all shine nice and the chrome is in really nice shape, even the paint on the dash is good. The dash pad is starting to wrinkle from sitting it the sun for ages. The original radio in this car even works!! The paint on the car is in decent shape I would say its probably a fifteen footer, the top is in really good shape and I think a good buff would shine it right up! The rest of the paint is decent there is some spots I can see that have touch up paint on the hood and some on the rear passenger quarter panel; where it looks like something banged into it. ALL the chrome trim is in absolutely great shape, all the emblems are there and nice and the bumpers are really nice too! There is one piece of trim on the passenger front door that got taken off the car, I have been meaning to order another one but just haven't. Overall this car is in good solid condition and runs really well. It drives great also but the brakes are starting to get soft. I had big intentions of restoring this car but other things have come up so now I am selling it. I am the third owner the original owner was seventy and she couldn't drive anymore so her neighbor bought it and then I bought it from him. I do have some manuals for the car too that I will include with it. Email me or call 208-589-9783 with any questions. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!! P.S-The car had just started to get rained on when I took the pics. On Nov-23-12 at 10:05:47 PST, seller added the following information: I have had some questions on the transmission so here is some clarification: It is the factory transmission that came in the car in 1961, I listed it as a Turbo Hydra-matic when in fact it is called a roto-hydramatic. Anyway the transmission goes through all the gears just fine and works good. On Nov-26-12 at 19:01:32 PST, seller added the following information: After numerous emails and questions I felt like I needed to add a few things. First, yes the car is solid but no I wouldn't drive it 1000 miles from here to California or anywhere else, as I stated the brakes are soft so you would at least want to fix those, plus this car is 51 years old your going to want to check it out good first before a big road trip. I have driven it around a lot and it is a good running car the engine and trans are solid but driving around and a 15 hour trip down the Interstate are two different things. Second, the body is in good shape and as I said it is a fifteen footer(from 15 feet it looks good) but there are touch up paint spots and nicks and what not all over the 51 year old paint. It wouldn't take much to get the body ready for paint and then have some nice paint laid down on it, but you aren't going to be able to go win best of show as it sits right now. This is a great car and I really wanted to build it for myself so I could keep it but it just isn't working out that way, and I really want to see it go to a good home. Any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks again John
