Vehicle Detail
1960 Plymouth Fury 4 Door Sedan Up for sale is my 1960 Plymouth Fury 4 Door Sedan. Her name is Lucille. This car was bought new at M.A. Dorn Chrysler-Plymouth in St. Louis, MO. The dealer sticker is still on the back of the decklid. According to the Chrysler production record this car was shipped April 7, 1960 from the St. Louis assembly plant. Originally she was Sky Blue with an Oyster White roof. Her factory options include: -Poly 318 V8, 2bbl -Torqueflite 3 Speed Automatic Transmission -Airtemp Air Conditioning w/ Heater (The original sticker is still on the back glass) -Solex Tinted Glass (All windows) -Power Steering -Power Brakes -Full Wheel Covers -Safety Padded Dash -Pushbutton Radio This car is about totally new mechanically. The Poly 318 V8 engine was rebuilt, The pushbutton Torqueflite automatic transmission serviced, new fuel tank with sending unit, new exhaust, new brakes using NOS brake shoes and new wheel cylinders, Radiator recored, New hoses, Power brake bellows booster rebuilt, generator rebuilt, new voltage regulator, front suspension work, and more. She drives very well and has plenty of power. She doesn't leak a drop either. The tires are BF Goodrich Silvertowns, they have plenty of tread left on them and are hardly worn at all. This car spent most of her life in Texas. An old 1984 Texas inspection sticker is still visible on the front windshield. Undoubtedly this kept her body in great shape. The paint has been baked off, but the rust is only on the surface with no rot out. The chrome and stainless is in nice shape with minimal pitting. The exterior has a unique patina as seen in the photos. This car is nearly rust free. The floors, rockers, quarter panels, and body are in excellent shape. There is only one tiny hole on the car near the back glass. The stainless for the rear glass/roof is with the car as well as the passenger front door panel and surround. The door panels are in great shape, some of the vinyl has peeled back but it can easily be glued back with adhesive spray and a heatgun/blow dryer. Exterior lights all work, Radio works (needs a speaker however), Turn signals work, dashlights work (usually), everything works except for the clock and temp gauge. I installed a new sending unit on the engine so there must be a loose connection on the gauge, I just haven't had the time to look. Speedometer works as it should and scrolls across much like thermometer. (Check out the photo) The A/C controls are all there and the blower works, the A/C obviously probably needs servicing and a recharge to be in operating condition. But those snorkel A/C vents on the dash are pretty cool nonetheless! They swivel and angle back and forth. Neato! I'd like to restore this car back to her former glory but I just don't have the time to devote to her right now. Nothing beats Virgil Exner's finned Forward Look cars, and this one has practically the biggest fins! Most people tell me I shouldn't touch the body. It did take 50 or so years to create the look that you see now. Drive as is or restore...As Ricky Nelson sang once: "Its up to you!" I do have NOS factory front and rear seat covers for the car. And they are very nice. I kinda want to keep them for myself..but I guess I can let them go with the car. (They weren't cheap that's for sure!) The car has a clear North Carolina title in my name. Heck you could probably drive the car home if you wanted! Car needs a battery and unfortunately the license plate and Pokey don't go with the car... I may possibly consider trades/offers. But only Mopar and 1960s and earlier. Thanks! Please ask any questions and I'd be glad to answer them.
