Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my Honda Sabre 1100. It is a good, solid bike with a little 'character'. It comes with the panniers and windshield shown. Both are quick detach if you want to strip it for a quick ride around town. It also has iso grip grips, 4 inch handlebar risers, Honda floorboards, highway bar/foot rest, luggage rack and a Mustang seat. It will come with the original clutch and brake levers, and foot pegs if I can find them. The aftermarkets on the bike now are starting to show wear. First the good: I have put the last 25000 miles on the bike personally, and never had a problem related to the machine itself. It has taken me from Oklahoma to Las Vegas a couple of times a year, to South Padre Island several times, to the Grand Canyon a couple of time, etc. That's why I added the highway bars and floorboards. It's a good intermediate bike; it is my second bike, and it can keep up with the big boys on the highway but is easy to maneuver in town. I am 6' tall and 215 pounds, and for me it gets around 40mpg on the highway going roughly the speed limit. If I get on the interstate and start cruising at 110, that drops to about 30 mpg. In town rolling slow, I can get it up to 50 mpg. It will do 130, but I don't recommend it. It's scary as hell. I keep the oil changed, and all mechanical issues repaired and everything up to date. The tires as of now have about 1000 miles on them, front and rear. They will have a few more by the time you get it. I'm going to ride it until it sells. It is low maintenance, and the 1100 Honda engine is bullet proof. If you'll buy me a bus ticket home and it isn't snowing, I'll ride it to your doorstep and save you shipping. I trust this bike. I just need something with a better back seat now. My girlfriend went on an 8 hour ride with me last year to Arkansas, and she said that is the limit. Now the bad, It is a good, solid bike, but even with the bags, there's not much luggage room when riding two up. For the aforementioned Arkansas trip, we had crap bungeed everywhere. And, this bike has been in the ocean. Yes, the ocean. About two years ago, I was riding it on the beach, and stopped to take a picture in the surf. Well, the bike tipped over in the sand, and salt water went everywhere. It still started back up and brought me the 1000 miles back home, but I was blowing sand and seashells out the tailpipe most of the way. Since then, the ignition switch turns my key black on long rides. Everything works like it should but it looks funny. Finally, the ugly.... Because the floorboards don't really fit with the highway bar I mounted, they have rubbed the chrome off the bars where they rest. See the picture. The floorboard on the right side is starting to warp, but it hasn't broken, and I don't expect it to be anything other than a cosmetic problem, but you'll notice it when you look. The ghost mounts on the bags have rust starting along the seams, too. I think they just need sandpaper and paint, but I'm not going to bother. The rear fender has some minor damage from a blowout I had in New Mexico last year. It isn't noticeable unless you look for it. Finally, the chrome on the luggage rack and clutch lever is starting to flake. It's not bad, and if I have to keep this another year or two, I won't mess with it, but again, you'll notice if you look. I don't have a garage, so this poor thing sits out in the weather 24/7. I'm really more interested in low maintenance costs and reliability than bike show looks. The bike hasn't disappointed me in the time I've had it. It always starts, and always runs without a hitch, and I expect it to continue to do so. Email with any questions. If you want it shipped, you'll be responsible for the arrangements and costs. I'll need a paypal deposit of $400.00 within 7 days after the sale. You can paypal the rest or mail it or just hand it to me when you pick the bike up. It's up to you. ***************Added pics 11/12*************** I've added a couple of pics of the bike at the Grand Canyon and Padre Island, just so you can see where she's been, and where she can take you if you want to go. And, most of the miles on it are highway miles:) I ride it a couple of hundred miles a month in town, but when I hit the highway, that's when we run up the odometer.
