Vehicle Detail
It's time for us to part with our 1976 VW Westfalia Camper Bus. We've owned her for 7 years, and we've loved taking her on road trips, overnight and weekend camp outs, and countless trips to drive-in movies and drive-in restaurants. But, as our family has grown, our needs have changed, and we don't have the time or space to do everything we'd like with this unique classic car. We don't know much about the history - we bought her from a young student, at there were at least two owners before that. Our goal has been to make her a comfortable rig for driving and camping, and eventually do a full restoration. So far, we've done the following: -New shocks-New brake lines-New front brake calipers, rear brake cylinders and drums-Heavy duty front sway bar (much better in corners and crosswinds!)-New ball joints and tie rod ends-Short shift kit-Aiwa CD/MP3 player with front panel input (great for watching movies on a laptop or tablet when camping)-New poptop canvas-New bunk pads (upper bunk has memory foam for more comfort)-New carpeting (actually interior carpet but much better than what it came with)-Vanagon appliance cabinet with fridge, sink and stove-New propane lines-Custom side cabinet-Vanagon 2.0L aircooled motor (fuel injection, electronic ignition, and hydraulic lifters)-New fuel lines-New clutch cable-Heavy duty 8-ply tires (the only tires for a westy!)-New seals on side door, rear hatch, driver's door window, and windshield But, over time, we've also collected quite a few parts that are also included: -Used louvered (jalousie) windows, with new window seals-2 sets of original bunk pads-Extra Vanagon fridge-Spare clutch & pressure plate (used for about 15,000 miles)-Used starter-Stock hubcaps-Seals for front doors, passenger door window, and engine hatch-Seals for poptop and luggage rack-2 sets of heater control flaps-2 water tanks-New foam for one front seat-New rear swingarm bushings Obviously, there's still work to be done. The auxiliary power needs to be wired up, and the heater boxes need to be connected. Other than that, she's pretty much ready to hit the road and go camping. Clean Washington title, tabs are current.
