1979 CHEVY MALIBU WAGON 81K ORIGINAL MILES 2 OWNER ORIGINAL PAINT ORIGINAL INTERIOR BUILT MOTOR/TRANS/REAR 2 VIDEOS AND TONS OF PICTURES NO RESERVE - HIGH BID WINS!!! Remember the days where wagons like this were in every driveway of an American family. Pre minivan, these mid size wagons went to all the little league games, drove to all the grocery stores, took the kids to school and even visited Grand Mom’s house on Sunday. This particular 79 Malibu wagon’s life was destined to live on a farm. Bought solely for throwing bales of hay out of the back while driving on a farm and when needed, it drove to the market 6 or 7 miles up the road. From 1979 to 1991 and 51k miles later, that was a day in the life of this pastel blue little wagon. It wasn’t until late 1991 where the current owner saw this car for sale at the end of a long driveway in the farmlands of NJ. He was amazed at how solid, how original and how lonely it looked and even though its life on the farm had ended, a new life was just about to begin. But the second life had to do with a lot more muscle without changing the overall originality of the car. Please read on this wagon which are becoming harder and harder to find, especially in this condition and learn what makes it so special in more ways than one. Thank you for visiting. Exterior: As you can see from this pictures this wagon presents itself very well. The body of this car only has 81k original miles. Except for the bumpers and hood, the paint is 100% original and the body is very solid for its originality. Very, Very minor surface rust spots are barely visible. The hood is an aftermarket GM Goodmark hood and both front and rear bumpers are custom glass and were ordered from Lauren Engineering, and they weren’t cheap. The tires are new BF Goodrich tires with ARE 15x7 wheels on the back and 15x3 centerlines on the front. All the glass is original and have NO cracks or scratches. The roof rack is almost complete. In a mall parking lot, the raised part of the rack was stolen, so only the middle slats are present(do you believe that?....stolen) The color of the car is pastel blue and the only 3 aftermarket parts where painted to match perfectly. As I said the body is straight and accident free but being close to 34 years old there are some nicks here and there. Also, 1 wheel well trim is missing and one front marker light trim is missing too. Please look at the pictures of this car and let us know of any questions you may have. Interior: For the most part the interior is all original with the exception of an aftermarket radio and gauges. The dash is original and in excellent shape for the age. Very minor cracking in areas not the usually dry rot all the way around. The headliner and sunvisors are all original and intact and not sagging at all. That is a true miracle because headliners from this era are usually laying on your head as your driving or completely shredded. The seats are all original and the driver’s area has seen its better days but again, not bad for the age. The original carpet and door panels are all intact and in fairly good condition for its age. The back seat is excellent and has hardly if not never been sat in. The car came with a/c and heat but both has been removed. Please view the pictures and let us know of any questions. Drivetrain: Well the drivetrain is what changed the destiny of this wagon. The original underpowered 267 V8 was removed along with the sluggish tranny and rear and a 283 Chevy V8 was installed with a TH350 and 3.73 open ended rear. All only having 8100 miles since a complete rebuild. The engine was built with a 327 steal crank. Tuned port Chevy 305 heads where installed with a performance Crane Fireball Cam 480/280-25/55. A Pete Jackson gear drive was also installed giving this car a great sound(see videos). The intake manifold is a street master edelbroch with a single plain from the 60’s along with an edelbroch 625 4 bbl exhaust. The TH 350 was built with a B&M shift kit and will snap your neck at every shift. The rear is from a Monte Carlo SS with 3.73 gears and an open end(1 legger) A G Force cross member was also custom installed for stiffness and the open header dump through the member. For the exhaust it starts with Dynamax long tube headers that you can run either open ended or through Thrush Turbo mufflers out of the back. This car was built with great strength and it shows you do not need a lot of cubic inches to produce power. A lot of weight was eliminated on the car and this wagon runs the ¼ mile in 13.77 at 102.9 mph’s and weighs 3600lbs empty. The engine produces about 270 horse. Please watch the videos of both open and closed headers. In Summation: This is a fun, fast car to drive. Very streetable, very fast and great sounding. Was adult owned by the second owner from 1991 to today and he was very meticulous about getting the most out of what he had to work with. This car is very affordable and very original. Thank You!
