Vehicle Detail
I purchased this little jewel about a year ago from a very nice gentleman in Texas who was moving out of the country and could not take it with him. I bought it for my wife because her Dad had owned one when she was young and after he passed away she always wanted to get another one. That's her in the pictures. She loved the car, but almost never drove it, mainly because it is 5- speed and as a vintage car takes a while to get warmed up. Plus we have 3 kids, :-) Anyway, she has given me permission to sell it, and as I have a bunch of other toys, I decided to take her up on it. I will try to describe it as best I can, and I will upload more pictures soon. But you should really come by and see it if you are interested. The Good:1) About as much fun as you can have in a little car. Fun to ride around the country roads, or use on a track day if you like.2) She is in very good shape, especially for a car that has not been restored really. I have not seen any rust, not even under the battery box. The paint is good and shines nicely. Sort of a 5 footer I guess. 3) She has been converted from fuel injection to dual dellorto carbs. These things are so easy to tweak, and I have a set of various jets that will go with, as well as a dellorto carb book.4) She is surprisingly peppy. She has to warm up of course, but once she gets going she is a blast, and the 2.0 liter engine has plenty of power. She really feels and sounds like a racecar. I think a previous owner must have used her for track days, hence the conversion to carbs.5) She has electronic ignition, and cranks easily.6) As far as I can remember (I have driven her in a month or so) everything works, even the original radio and power antennae. The Not as Good:1) She has an oil leak, a few drops after a drive. When I bought her she did not leak oil, but after driving her a good bit this started. Seems pretty typical. I have a much newer porsche boxster and it does the same, and my friends 911 leaks a little as well.2) When she is hot after driving, she 'drags' when you try to crank her. I have suspected she might one day need a starter, though it could also simply be a ground issue. She has always started, just draggy when she is hot.3) From 5 feet away the paint looks pretty great, but up close you can see this is not a show car paint job.4) The interior seats have tears, and the dash has cracks. If my wife kept it I was going to fix all that, but never did. Anyway, feel free to email any questions, or come by and check her out. She really is fun to drive, and way more simple to tinker with than I thought she would be. If you live in Mississippi I will have to collect Ms Sales tax of 5%. Thanks for looking and bidding! Thanks. On Oct-26-12 at 09:46:40 PDT, seller added the following information: ******ATTENTION******* Someone has noticed that the cars appears to have had damage repair to the front left. Their is repair work that can be seen in a picture of the front left trunk. After looking myself I agree that it has had some sort of repair work. I never noticed before, but then I always assume that a vehicle of this age has had an accident somewhere along the line, so I just did not inspect it that closely. In addition, I also noticed this morning that the blinkers are not working. This is a 38 YEAR OLD CAR of course, and should probably be bought as a toy or hobby, not so much a daily driver to get back and forth to work. Just my opinion. IF FOR ANY REASON THIS INFO MAKES YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW YOUR BID, PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID. I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO WASTE THEIR TIME ON A CAR THEY DON'T REALLY WANT. THANKS, CHRIS ***** ATTENTION *****
