Vehicle Detail
Here is an unrestored classic Honda! It is a silver 1984 Honda Prelude 1.8 CV (predecessor to VTEC) dual carb 5-speed manual that was a wedding present in 1984 from my grandfather to my grandmother. It has always been garaged since new and has never seen snow, even after it became mine a couple years ago. Before the Prelude SI was introduced in the following model year, this was Honda's top of the line model. It starts and runs perfectly, and has no modifications, body or paint work; the car is entirely original. It currently has a little over 119k miles, and has recently had the alternator and A/C redone. The tires are in good shape and the brakes are strong. Everything works, from the flip-up lights to the power moonroof, to the air conditioning. Since the car has remained in my family, I also have the complete service record dating back to its date of purchase (all scheduled items have been done), the window sticker, some tags that hung inside the car on the dealer lot, and a period sales brochure. I even have all 3 keys, one of which is that elusive valet key. This car is very solid, having served to help me get back and forth from school until being listed for sale. It could be a frugal daily driver (~30MPG highway), or easily restored to showroom condition. I have made a video to better illustrate the condition of the vehicle at http://youtu.be/NSj-uuFeg3g As with any 28 year old car, there are some cosmetic faults. Specifically, the driver's side floor mat has some wear, and the clearcoat on the trunk lid has begun to lose its luster. Some paint chips are also normal for the vehicle's age. Finally, a small (less than dime-sized) spot of rust has begun at the passenger rear quarter panel behind the wheel well. I welcome personal inspections to verify the car's condition. This car is only available for local pick up in the Hartford, CT area, and the buyer will be responsible for all shipping and/or transportation costs. Don't miss your chance to own a well-preserved piece of Honda history. The company's founder was proud of the 2nd generation Prelude, from its jet fighter inspired cockpit, to it having a hood height that was lower than Ferrari's. Happy bidding! On Oct-18-12 at 11:24:39 PDT, seller added the following information:NOTE: In response to many questions: The clutch and flywheel were replaced at 85,468 miles. Rear brakes shoes/pads replaced at 91,000 miles (and also timing belt and water pump). Front brakes pads and rotors replaced at 78,500. There is a service notation that rotors were replaced at 94,600. I presume that was the front brakes. A/C compressor, a/c clutch and coil replaced at 90,700. The tires were gauged at 5/32s all around at 117,000 miles. Front and lower ball joints were replaced at 95,000 miles. Other parts were replaced as needed, as well as recalls.
