This bike rocked the world of Harley Davidson causing them to sue Honda because Harley thought it infringed on the Harley look and sound. Harley lost their suit. This style of Rebel 250 was introduced in 1985 and was produced from 1985 through 1987. Honda also produced the Rebel 450 during years 1986 and 1987. Controversey with Harley Davidson was one of the resaons for discontinuing both models after 1987. Honda resumed production of the Rebel 250 in 1996 and continues to produce them to this day. However, many believe the earlier 80's models are most desirable because of their distinctive look and history. The Rebel 450 was never resurrected and in time may become a collector's item.
