Vehicle Detail
Take a deep breath, and realize this car is a project. It is a rare, authentic, PHS-documented, Y-88, W72, WS6, 400, 4-speed, T-top car. It is one of only 1,267. It was sold new at Ernie Miller Pontiac GMC in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is a project with incredible potential. I want to represent the car as honestly as possible. When I bought the car a couple of years ago, I wish the person who sold it to me had been equally honest. I found it in Oklahoma, and bought it having seen only a couple of misleading pictures. Confident that it was a good deal, I wired the money. When it arrived in Nashville I was taken aback. It wasn’t what I expected. I have finally concluded that I don’t possess the necessary skills to take on this challenge, and am choosing to let the car go. There is no drivetrain. No engine, and no transmission. Pretty much everything else is there. The original gold-tint t-tops are in place. The dash components are there, but removed. The hood scoop is missing. Though I have yet to get into it, I believe there are a lot of parts in the trunk. But I have no idea what is there, and what is not. From what I can tell, someone once tried to mold the flares into the body. That would be an issue that needs to be addressed. The rust issues are obvious. That's a bit surprising given that it's an Oklahoma car. I’ve not pulled up the carpet, so I don’t know the condition of the floorpan. I also don’t have the key to the trunk, and so I haven’t gotten a look in there. But I would be prepared for anything. This could be a great parts car, or project with incredible potential. If you have a Firebird or less-desirable Trans Am, you could make the car of your dreams. That’s what I really hope happens with it. It would be great to have it come back to life. I am selling this car with NO RESERVE. There IS NO BUY IT NOW, and I will NOT end the auction early. It’s going to be a real, honest auction all the way through. The car is located at Morris Automotive in La Vergne, TN just outside of Nashville. You are absolutely welcome to come see the car in person. Please call me in advance so that I may make arrangements with the folks at Morris for you. I only have a bill of sale for the car (that’s how I received it - I never applied for a title.) I have no idea what the real mileage of the car is. If you’re unfamiliar with just how rare and special these cars are, this web page is an excellent source of information: http://www.78ta.com/goldspecial.php As is noted on this page, not all Y-88’s had that designation stamped on the tag. However, the PHS documentation supports that this car is, in fact, the real deal. If you would like to ask questions, you may reach me at (615) 830-5400. If you would like, I will gladly email you the pdf scan of the documents providing documentation of the car's authenticity from the PHS. Please send me a note with your e-mail address so I may send you that pdf file directly. Thanks for taking a look, and good luck with the bidding. On Oct-12-12 at 15:26:52 PDT, seller added the following information:Thanks to those of you who've called about the car. A few of you asked about transport companies (and someone also asked on another project car I have listed.) Since the question came up a few times, I thought I'd pass this along too. There is a shipper I've worked with a lot, and they have been FANTASTIC! Actually, they brought my Wagoneer in from Utah just a couple of months ago. They were ahead of schedule, and it couldn't have been handled better. They are Agape Auto Transport and they're based in the Nashville area. Their website is www.agapetransport.com and their number is (615) 758-2522. I've used them three times, and have had great experiences each time. I'm not getting anything from them for saying this. But I wanted to recommend some folks who've worked very hard for me in the past. For what it's worth. Thanks for your interest. On Oct-15-12 at 14:56:31 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTICE! I have gotten a lot of calls from people hoping to see what was in the trunk. I drove out there this afternoon (10/15/12) to open it up. As it turns out, there was no lock, so I was able to open it with a screwdriver. While I was there, I filmed a walk-around of the car showing you everything I possibly could. I have uploaded that to youtube, and you may see the video there. It will give you much more detail about the car. Again, if you have any questions please don't hesitate in calling. My number is (615) 830-5400. I will answer questions you might have to the best of my ability. Thanks again for your interest. Here's where you can find the video on youtube.
