This Chevy 3500 DUMP / GARBAGE TRUCK has about $1500 in parts since i purchased it about a year and a half ago. The driver was a mechanic so he did all the work on the truck and maintained the truck himself. We put in a new starter, alternator, battery, brake lines, hoses, hydraulic lift system for the dump and a lot of odds and ends to keep the truck in good working order. The honest truth is that the truck is a work horse. Never broke down on me. Never had any real serious problems with it. But i believe the reason behind it is that i never let the truck get to the stage of where it needed any type of major work. As i mentioned my driver of the truck was a mechanic so we always fixed any potential problems before they became major problems. The truck was the bread and butter of the commercial and residential rubbish removals/cleanouts, so not having it in good operating condition and on the road was not an option.
