THE CAR THAT STARTED IT ALL: ~ a RARE 1980 Toyota Celica SUPRA Mark I Coupe. This car represents the top of the Celica range for the early 1980s, powered by a 6 Cylinder engine (rather than the 4 Cylinder in the Celicas), mated to a 5 Speed Manual Transmission. This car is well optioned and very original. She is finished in white over tan leather, and features power windows and locks that work, climate control A/C (which is complete but blows warm), and cruise control that I've never bothered to test. The Supra currently boasts under 79,000 original miles which are verified as correct on the PA title, and PA Antique Registration. When was the last time you've seen one of these in the North East? I suspect that it's probably been a while. This one is fresh out of storage in Florida with a previous title state of Arizona, and is almost entirely rust free. I've been over the car pretty thoroughly, and found only two spots. One is a previously repaired spot on the left rear quarter panel at the window moulding (that could be done again better), and the other is a small spot under the rocker panel trim on the same side. Pretty amazing. The underside has held up very well also... as shown in one of the photos. The car will likely need little details as she wakes up, but starts easily, runs well after she warms up, and never runs hot. There are no drips on the garage floor, and there is no James Bond Style smoke screen in the rear view mirror. She has nearly new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires on the original Supra Alloy Wheels. Even the often lost and expensive bits are here... like the hatch area cargo cover, the owner's manual, tire jack, spare tire, and tool kit. She is not a new car, and is priced accordingly. If you search recent closed sales on Mark I Celica Supras, you'll only find a couple. These cars were uncommon when new, and are quite scarce in 2012. When I did a quick search just now, there was one in need of a restoration that closed at $3,200, and another in excellent shape that sold for $12,000. This is neither of those cars... but a generally respectable and drivable car that could be enjoyed for years to come with little more than maintenance, improved as you drive, or fully restored at your convenience. Perhaps the best thing about this car is that as rare as it is, most parts cross over to other Toyota models, and are readily available. That supply, as well as an internet forum that focuses specifically on the Celica Supras, will make finding anything you ever need to keep this car up to date much easier than most other cars seen in such low numbers. Besides that, it's a TOYOTA, and therefore, the needs will be fewer and further between than most other cars. THE SUPRA HAS A CLEAR PA TITLE IN MY NAME, WITH NO LIENS, verifying the mileage as correct... in my hand, and ready to be signed over to a new owner with no delay. THE SMALL STUFF: Payment in full must be made within 7 days of the close of the auction, following a non-refundable $500 deposit through PayPal that must be received within 24 hours of the auction ending. Payment methods accepted for the balance will be cash, a verifiable cashier's check from a bank with local branches in central PA, or a bank wire transfer directly to my credit union (preferred). If your plan is to come to Harrisburg to pick up the car, I can arrange to pick you up at the airport (MDT), bus, or train station. If you would be planning to ship the Supra we can make our schedule fairly flexible to arrange to meet a transport service of your choice. The Supra can stay here after payment in full has been received for up to a month to accommodate YOUR schedule - garaged, and of course - not driven. The mileage today shows 78,832, but will increase slightly during the duration of the auction, as I'll likely drive the car a few days, and there may be test drives. As of this morning, the Supra has a new caliper on the left front corner, 2 new high beam headlights, and the lug nut that was missing from the right front wheel has been replaced. I've been asked if I think the car is "road trip worthy". I would get in this car tomorrow, and drive her anywhere. Her highway manners are excellent, and a Toyota in motion, tends to remain in motion. That said, as with any other classic car, I'd have a cell phone in my pocket, and a back up plan in mind.
