Vehicle Detail
Great summer car! (and spring...and fall...) 1977 MG Midget convertible 65k miles, runs well, rebuilt front suspension and front brakes (2011), new-ish brake lines and master cylinder (2009) I bought this car about 3 years ago, and have had a great time cruising around town whenever it's at least 55 degrees out :) It's also a great car for tinkering. Much of it is original. I'm moving to a city apartment with no garage, so sadly my midget life is being put on hold for now. After this experience, I'll be buying another one some years down the road, I'm sure. The Good: Runs well, and turns heads wherever you go - last summer I drove it roughly 250 miles each way to the Hamptons without fail Drives straight Minimal rust (I think there's a little under the rear passenger rear well that could use scraping/paint) No electrical issues Tires are fairly new - probably 3k miles on them. Includes un-used spare in trunk Luggage rack It's an MG! Easy to park just about anywhere - it's tiny I'm happy to include a floor jack, 2 axle stands, and some plastic wheel ramps I bought at Autozone for getting under the hood Replaced in last 1 to 2 years: Starter motorBrake master cylinderAll brake linesFront brake discs and calipersFront suspension A-arms, shock absorbers, springs, bushings (see photo)IgnitionFuel pump The Bad: (I'm trying for full disclosure here - it's an old car, and I am thus surely missing some little things, but this is my inventory of issues) Currently has an exhaust leak, making it run a little noisy. There was a capped port in the exhaust manifold and the cap must have rattled out - I'm trying to address this, but short on time so may not be able to. Needs a paint job if you want it to be shiny new (see photo of hood) Has minor body damage just in front of driver side door (see photo) Tachometer is not functioning Patched crack in dashboard (see photo) Interior is original, I believe - that's 35 years, and it shows Left stereo speaker seems to be nearly dead Like most little british cars of its age, it leaks some oil - I probably add a half quart every few hundred miles The top must also be original - it's a bit tough to close, and it has a couple of tears (not ratty, just a split seam and a slit in the clear portion) Let me know if you have any questions. I really need to sell this quickly, so I am actually hoping to have a local buyer who can come and drive it away. If not, I do need you to arrange shipping as soon as possible. Thanks for considering this great little car!
