Vehicle Detail

Canary Yellow 92 Automatic German-built VW Cabriolet Carat. Canary Yellow 92 Automatic German-built VW Cabriolet Carat. 125,455 miles. This car was originally teal, according to the title. I've had it almost 2 years, and I ADORE it, but I'm moving to the boonies in the Missouri Ozarks in a month. This car isn't made for dirt/tar-and-chip roads, so it needs a new home where there's actual concrete to drive on. She has: --new tires (all 4 less than a year old) --new struts (about 6 months) --new belts -- timing, A/C, alternator, etc (1 year old) --new exhaust system --pipes, muffler, tip (1 year old) --new battery (1 year old) --new starter (1 ½ yrs old) --new gaskets --head, valve cover, exhaust, intake manifold, cam shaft seal (3 months old) --newer convertible top (app. 3 years old) --new brakes all around (1 month old) --new rear wheel cylinders (1 year old) --new brake lines (1 year old) --new inner and outer tierods (6 months) -and- --new locking gas cap (3 months old) This car is reliable and starts every time. BUT: she does have a few tics (hey, she's a senior citizen!) She needs new rings sometime soon, as she tends to smoke for a minute when you cold start her (tail smoke only). He body is in good shape, aside from some minor cosmetic paint chips. She has a tricky driver door handle that has evaded repair (can be opened, but you have to lift first. Or just replace it if you can locate a new matching one). The dome light doesn't work. . .may be a short in it. There is no radio, because apparently some thief needed it more than I did the night I forgot to lock the doors. The oil light stays on all the time; from what I've read on the Cabriolet forum, they ALL do that at this age. The windows drip where they meet the convertible top (again, it's a Cabby thing according to the forum). The emergency brake is purely for decorative purposes. I replaced the side mirrors, but I bought crappy ones, so they need replacing again. There is some oil residue under the hood; when I bought her, she had a blown head gasket and valve cover gasket. They've been replaced twice since (once because they needed it, and once because my husband was replacing the other seals in the vicinity), but under the hood was a REAL mess, and Dawn and powerwashing only helped so much. A/C needs charging. She has lovely leather seats (aged, of course) with no rips or tears. The top works perfectly (it has 2 tiny pinholes by the back window, but doesn't leak through them). She also has the clipper kit installed and in good condition. Power windows, too. This is my dream car, and I hate to sell her, but there's no way she could handle the roads at my new place. I have all the receipts and paperwork to go with her, as well as the Chilton Manual. She has a clean and clear title.
