I am listing this truck for a recently widowed friend who lives in Santa Barbara, CA. Her husband’s father bought the truck new in Santa Barbara and drove it until he passed away about 1978. It was rarely, if ever, out of Santa Barbara county. Her husband inherited the truck and drove it occasionally for many years before starting the restoration. He spent much of the last 10 years meticulously restoring his truck. He did many small parts himself, but had the major mechanical and painting done by local professionals. Unfortunately, my friend’s husband passed away earlier this year, so this exceptional truck is available. The truck is a basic truck from 1937 and drives like a 1937 truck. The engine runs perfectly. The odometer shows just under 44K, but my friend believes that it was not working for a time before her husband inherited the truck. It is still a very low mileage truck for the year. I live in Colorado and will be spending some time in Santa Barbara starting this Tuesday to help with the sale of the truck and other items. When I get there, I will check out the truck thoroughly and add anything I find to the Ebay listing. There are some questions in my friend’s mind about some areas of the truck: were the king pins replaced, when were the tires replaced, condition of the steering box, engine compression, tail pipe smoke, etc. I will also add more pictures if Ebay will allow it. The VIN # listed above was the serial number on the 1937 registration form. On recent registrations, the engine number T3812201 is listed as the VIN. THE OWNER JUST FOUND A RECEIPT FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW KING PINS IN 2008. I JUST ARRIVED IN SANTA BARBARA AND CHECKED OUT THE TRUCK. I HADN'T SEEN IT SINCE THE LATE 70S WHEN IT WAS IN ITS ORIGINAL GARAGE HERE IN SANTA BARBARA. IT IS JUST GORGEOUS! IT DRIVES LIKE IT SHOULD OR BETTER. THE ENGINE RUNS GREAT AND THE STEERING, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, PERFORM PERFECTLY. THE ONLY FLAWS THAT I CAN SEE ARE ON THE HUB CAPS THAT HAVE SOME DINGS AND DENTS. THE WIPER POST IS THERE BUT DOESN'T WORK. MY FRIENDS QUOTES HER HUSBAND AS SAYING " WHY FIX THE WIPER SINCE I WILL NEVER DRIVE THE TRUCK IN THE RAIN". THE TIRES SHOW LITTLE WEAR, BUT DO SHOW SOME WEATHER CRACKING ON THE SIDE WALLS. I DROVE THE TRUCK AROUND FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DIDN'T COME UP. ALL THE OTHER GAUGES WORK FINE. THE TILT OUT WINDSHIELD WORKS NICELY (AIR CONDITIONING) The truck will be available for viewing starting Wed, August 1 and I encourage anyone interested who is close enough to look at the truck. Also, there is about 1/32 of an inch broke off one horn of the Ram hood ornament. I also noticed a small oil leak from the engine, but haven't been able to locate where it is coming from.
