Vehicle Detail
1991 Toyota MR2 2.2L Non turbo *Please note: The title has no brand currently however this vehicle has had a salvage tite in the past* I don't know why Oregon issued me a clear title but when I had it titled in Oklahoma, it was a salvage title due to front end damage. After 8 years of owning this vehicle, I have decided to sell it. She has been mine since roughly 112,000 miles and it currently has 133,000 miles. I have babied this vehicle since purchasing it back in 2004 and 90% of the work done to it I did with my own hands. Lots of people from the forums are going to ask me why I am selling it so to give a short answer to that question, I have simply decided I want something with heated seats and a more luxury feel to it. I have also started a new life in the past 6 months and have not had the time or patience to work on her as I used to throughout the years and feel she can be treated better with a new owner. Plus I live in a condo with no place to work on it. As you can tell by the pictures, she is modified. I spent a year modifying it in 2004/2005 to my liking to include the custom molded body kit and the fiber glassed interior and much more. While she is not perfect by any means, she attracts a lot of attention when I do drive her. I am constantly asked by people "what is it" and/or complimented by people everywhere I go. With her Ferrari red paint job, she really shines in the sunlight and was a crowd favorite when I brought her to car shows. Below is a list of modifications and I am trying to remember everything that I have done to her and might miss a thing or 2 but I think I got it all down. Body: Bomex Front Bumper (customized) Veilside Side Skirts Veilside Rear Bumper Toms Drivers Roof Scoop Corsa Rosso Ferrari Red with a touch of gold pearl in the paint. TRD Widebody Wing The body has been completely customized when it was installed. The body has been molded together to form one piece all the way around (except roof, doors, trunk, hood, etc.) which basically removed most of the body lines. Please note that the body kit pieces are replicas. The paint was hand mixed by myself and the paint guy for a one of a kind paint job. While the body shines, it is not perfect. Unfortunately while it was parked one day in a parking lot, someone decided to back into me and put a dent in the passenger side front fender. Not having the money at the time to fix it, I hammered out the dent and painted that area white as you can see in the pictures. I didn't want to try and color match it and it look super bad so I decided white would at least match a little bit with the rims. There is also 2 cracks in the front bumper, one of them is not very big and the other one is probably 8 inches long. I feel this will need attention in the future if the front bumper is hit hard enough and it cracks more. The hood needs to be adjust a few millimeters and the passenger side headlight cover needs some adjustment. I tried but lost patience, a buddy of mine said he could do it with some new bolts and a file but I never got around to getting it done. Again, really just needs someone with time on their hands and little bit of handy skills to get her in prime condition. Interior: JDM Stainless Sill Plates Authentic JDM Sill plate holders (very rare) Custom Leather/Pleather Seats (came with the car when I bought it) Red Vinyl Door Inserts Fiber Glassed Dash Board (2 cracks in it, I don't notice them very much) Lilliput Screen fiber glassed into dash (currently not hooked up, will include all electronics to it but might need to be replaced, it worked when I had it together but I took it a part) Black/Red stitched Steering wheel (ebay special) Red Gauge Overlays (custom made from Kroto) Hand Stitched Shift Boot (could probably be replaced, pretty old) Black/Red Shift Knob (it's worn but I find it very comfortable to use)The interior is aged but I have tried to keep it fresh as much as possible. The leather overall on the dash is very good but it has detached a bit near the windshield vents, just something I never got around to fixing. The carpet is in pretty good condition however the drivers side could use a good shampooing. The passenger side seat looks good but the drivers side seat could use a little love. The stitching on the seat has come a part on the seam and needs to be restitched. While it would be cheap and quick to have done, I don't have the time to remove the seat and the leather to have it fixed. There is also a hole in the seat from when I sat in the car with a screw driver in my back pocket (oops). The interior could also use a few panel clips here and there but nothing that is super expensive. The steering column is missing the lower cover which should be easy to find on the forums from someone parting out the car. I would recommend replacing both the top and bottom steering column cover because the screw points. The JDM sill plastic pieces need to be finished, they basically need to be glued, nothing more. All in all, it would be pretty cheap to fix the little things in the interior that are wrong, the only thing you need is time and the willingness. Sound/Security: Kenwood CD player with mp3 input ran to top of sun visor (cell phone fits great in the visor) Infinity 10" Basslink (behind passenger seat) 4 stock surround speakers 2 way Autopage Alarm (unlocks/locks doors and alarm) Sound system sounds great, I cant remember if there are tweeters or not but there are the covers for them. I removed the drivers side door speaker because I blew it and never got around to putting a new one in. I hook my phone up to the mp3 cable, take the tops off, and can still hear it just fine cruising down the highway even with all the wind. Engine: Aftermarket Headers (forgot the brand) Cold Air Intake Tune-up regularly Custom KO Racing Quad Tipped Dual Exhaust (sounds amazing, deep not the ricer high pitch crap)Engine has been regularly maintained and given tune-ups every 2000 miles. I drove it on a road trip last month for roughly 7 hours and she ran just fine. Fair warning, she is loud due to the exhaust! There are a few issues though. I know the oil pan gasket leaks a bit and needs to be replaced. The transmission works fine and recently got a bit of a tune up with new shift bushings. After I installed them, it actually took a bit more strength to shift but I got used to it. I did make a mistake though with the transmission several years back. I ruined the transmission fill plug hole and had to seal it with a metal putty sealer. I now use a transmission sensor hole on the top of the transmission to fill it when I do a change and I only use Pennzoil Synchromesh. The drivers side axle leaks a little bit, I thought I fixed it a few years ago but it might have been the other side that I fixed. I replace the transmission fluid every 4 or so months because of the leak but it's not hard, just like changing the oil and I believe it helps the transmission last longer with a fresh change because of the age of her. A few years ago I took off the intake manifold and cleaned it out completely which really helped afterwords and I try to keep a clean filter as much as possible on it. The engine is a bit dirty though, she used to be polished but I lost interest a while ago and now it's dirty again. A bottle of cleaner, box of rags, and the patience to clean and she will shine right up. She has A/C however there are 2 lines that need to be replaced, never needed it in Oregon on the Coast so I never fixed, should be a very cheap fix for the parts. When I put the gauge overlays i think I bumped the fuel gauge needle and it doesn't work, however the light still does so if it gets low on gas, I just stop at the next gas station. Probably easy to fix, just need to take it apart and play with the needle. Suspension/Wheels: Cam 17" Rims (were silver, painted by a body shop white, few rock chips, little peeling) Eibach Pro 1.4" Drop Springs KYB AGX Adjustable shocks Polyurethane Bushings Kit Khumo Ecsta Tires (maybe 1000 miles on them)New tires just put on a few months ago and have only about 1000 miles on them. They are in great condition. The CAM rims I bought off ebay back in 2005 and had a body shop sand blast them and paint them white. There are a few rock chips in the paint and I did notice a couple small spots that peeled off but not very noticeable. She feels awesome going around corners at joyful speeds and that is something I will miss about this car. Her handling is great on a nice smooth road. I do want to warn the future buyer, you will feel most bumps in the road. I also want to note that this car is extremely low to the ground, you need to be extremely careful going over speed bumps (some you just can't go over) and certain driveways are a pain. I am constantly going around potholes and things like that in the road. Makes me a careful driver though because I spend a lot of time watching the road. In 2005 I was in a small accident in Utah where someone crossed the lane in front of me and I hit the rear of the truck smashing the front end a bit (completely their fault). From this accident I was given a salvaged title because I bought it back and sent it to a body shop who cut most of the front end off and welded and bonded new metal to the front and laser aligned it with a rather large machine. It was completely fine after that but it had a branded title. When I moved to Oregon I found that they issued me a new title that was not branded so technically it has a clear title. Again, there are probably a few things I missed or forgot. I have tried to represent this vehicle to the best of my ability. I am not implying or giving a warranty on this vehicle and it will be sold as is. I also believe in the free market (start at $1.00) and have no idea what to ask for this vehicle but I will be setting a reserve (lower than you think). I bought this MR2 in 2004 for roughly $8k and some change and have invested thousands and thousands of dollars into her over the years and I know I won't get nearly a quarter of that back but again, it is time to move on. I am willing to allow potential buyers to come look at the car and go for a ride in it however I am not willing to allow someone to come and drive it without a sizable CASH deposit on hand (I really mean sizable). If you are interested I will take you for a ride at my convenience (I am a busy man). I will still be driving this to and from work for the next week to downtown Portland as my other car I let my brother borrow for 2 weeks. I am also listing this elsewhere and reserve the right to end at anytime. This car is located in Portland, OR Shipping - Shipping this car would be a mistake due to the ride height of it. Because it is so low to the ground, I don't think this should be shipped (or can be). I am willing to drive the car as far as Seattle, WA or Eugene, OR (roughly 3 hours outside Portland, OR) but I doubt I would have the time to drive it farther. I am open for discussion on this though but everything would have to be at my convenience, not yours. Payment - Certified Cashiers check will be fine and cash would be even better. If you want to write a personal check, I would need to get it 7 days before letting the car leave my garage or whenever it clears through my bank. I threw a deposit of $500 through paypal within 72 hours on this ad and would like to do that so I know your serious if you can't pick it up within 7 days after the end of auction. Please note that this car is 21 years old and getting a loan can be difficult because of that, please know what your doing before you bid. I will request action by eBay if the auction ends and the highest bidder does not fulfill their end of the agreement.
