Vehicle Detail
1926 Ford Model T, 5 window "Doctor's" coupe near show quality for sale. (It is only "near" show quality because I actually drive it twice a year. These models were often called "Doctor's coupes" because doctors bought them to make their house calls.) It is a two seat coupe with a large (for a Model T) trunk. It is all stock as it would have been in 1926, except for a few upgrades to make it run better such as a modern radiator core inside the stock radiator "housing", an exterior add-on water pump by Texas T Parts, and a fan with bigger blades. I have also installed an 8 volt battery for better starting, though it does just fine on a 6 volt, or you can use the hand crank, if you're so inclined. I have all the original parts to return these items to stock if you wish. The main body is green and the fenders and other remaining parts are black. The paint was professionally done by a craftsman in 6 layers of hand-rubbed lacquer. There is no "bondo"- any imperfections were leaded in. The top is wood with a vinyl overlay. The car has the stock visor which also has a vinyl overlay. It also has the rear spare tire carrier, with a new spare hanging on it. The wheels are the original wooden spoke with nickel-plated split rims. The interior is a new reproduction of the original, in excellent condition. I ONLY DRIVE THIS CAR IN PARADES, and it has always been garaged in controlled environment since the restoration. Options include: Wooden steering wheelRocky Mountain BrakesRuxtel 2-speed rear endElectric starterFront and Rear bumpers The only imperfections I can find are some VERY minor chips in the paint near the hood "holders", on the edge of the driver's door, under the fenders where a rock was thrown from the tires, and the bolts holding the rear fenders on are modern, not the appropriate period bolts. I put the number "1" in the mileage because this car has never had an odometer- the exact mileage is and always will be unknown. The transmission is stock; but if you don't know what is, it does NOT have "gears" like a "normal" manual, it was the precursor to the automatic, and therefore has "bands" inside the transmission that squeeze down on moving parts to "choose" a gear. Overall, one of the best T's around. The restoration was accomplished by a 60-year master mechanic. This car could be acceptably placed in a museum without any work.
