Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 OK here goes... Here is my 1988 928 S4 5 speed. It has approx 143k miles on the odometer. Motor was recently replaced the motor from another car that had 42k miles on it. You can see the picture of that motor. Engine was powder coated, intake and valve covers etc. Metal pieces we re zinc coated. The car was purchased from a gentlemen that had died of cancer, so I had no previous history on the car. The black paint is great from far. However on closer inspection, although it is very glossy, there are several imperfections from tiny scratches to more serious rubs from shopping carts or whatever may be. They all have been attended to with various levels of professionalism, however, the car could use a professional buffing if one were so inclined. My feeling was that it looked great from 10 feet, so I was ok with it. The interior is nice for some 20 odd years. The back seat are in great condition, the front buckets are ok, as the leather is a bit harder in between the legs. The carpet is clean although as you can see, it has its fair share of mileage. Paul Champagne did the leather work on the steering wheel (wonderful job); and the gauge pod, 5 speed boot, center tray, and rear center tray have all been covered as well with fresh black leather. Why did they do the back center in black also? the answer is that I wasn’t sure I wanted to recover everything in grey next time around and the black was pretty universal if I wanted to change my mind. Plus the light gray was not a 100% perfect match. When I bought the car, the first thing to complete was the timing belt etc. A short amount of time later an acquaintance name Walt K (old-timer in the 928 community) had a great low mileage motor he was saving for another project. I was able to talk him out of this super strong running motor and subsequently installed it in the 88 along with a new porsche timing belt and water pump and rebuilt tensioner. The motor runs and sounds absolutely fantastic. While the engine was out I was able to clean and R&R a few items on the engine compartment and wheel wells. You can see the pic of the inner fender from being cleaned and recoated etc. Mechanically the car drives and runs superb. Much of the hard lifting has been completed with the fresh engine etc. The attention to the interior and paint would be next on the list if you wanted a very nice 928 driver. I’m selling the car for a few reasons. 1) I have a 90 that I am currently doing an LS1 swap. 2) Happy wife Happy life, and clearing up a garage stall will make the wife very happy. 3) Money is always nice to be used on other things. Here is a list of new parts and work completed: · 42k mile motor · Powder coated intake and valve covers Shark Turner e-PROMS installed · New motor mounts · Exhaust manifolds wrapped in heat covers (see pic) · 3 piece cross member for future access · Less than 1,000 miles and New clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing · New flappy valve · Spark plug wires · Fresh zinc coating on many parts · New timing belt (Porsche) · New water pump (Porsche) · Rebuilt tensioner · Blue hose on clutch master · Aftermarket fan controller · Sand blasted many suspension pieces for fresh finish · Fuel filter · Radiator hoses · Cap and rotors · Thermostat · Power steering reservoir · Power steering hoses · Re lined the engine to driver compartment in heat shielding · Re covered the hood liner in new cover with Porsche logo (see pic) · Blower fan resistor · K&N air filter · Super Blue brake fluid · Paul Champagne leather work · 2-2 1/8” gauge pod ready in center console wrapped in leather (see pic) Window regulator bushings both doors · Short throw shifter RMB (rear muffler bypass) I have also installed a 1990 oil cooler below the radiator Frame gliders, in order to protect the oil cooler, these hang lower to protect the cooler from damage. Now the bad: · The antilock brake light is on. I suspect one of the ABS sensor’s in the wheels not communicating. Again, it’s just one of those things that just takes time to track down. Rear hatch. The electric motor activates, but the deck fails to pop open. Works with key however. · Tires are about used up · Stereo is horrible and barely works. The rear speakers are ok, but the there are no speakers in the doors behind the grills. So you will want to plan on installing your own system. · Paint and interior I have explained earlier above.· Cruise control is not operating. Wasnt important to me. I had other things to address with my time. I’ve done my best here. If I think of more I will add to the description later. Im asking for $9,250, which I feel is a great price for this car considering all the work that has been done. This is the not the car that will get the 20k that some super clean 928’s will get. It’s a great driver that will be a great car for someone to finish up. I have approx $8k in parts including the motor up to this point. Call or email with any questions.Waynes@email.com801-358-5445 On Jul-11-12 at 13:34:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Several people have asked if the AC works. Yes, it works great and was recently serviced. Blows nice and cold. Only minor issue is that it will not blow air on the floor setting. It blows air in the middle, doors and defroster, just not on the floor for some reason. Also people have asked it it will be OK to drive across country. Yes I believe so, I did a 7 hour round trip here recently to near vegas and back. Worked great. Tires are ok for a long trip, probably just not another winter, if it were me.
