This auction is for 1 1968 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL European Model with the 6.3 liter V/8 engine which produces significantly more horsepower and torque than the USA import models. In 1968 this car was chosen as the BEST CAR OVER $10,000.00 by ROAD AND TRACK magazine. It beat out all the Porsches, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Maybach's, Bentley's etc. It has many unique features such as infinitely adjustable pneumatic suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, and much more.This vehicle is being sold as a restoration project, IT DOES NOT RUN or DRIVE. The engine has a bad timing chain. All antifreeze and oil was drained before this car was stored. There is only one small area of rust through the size of a quarter dollar on the d/s rocker panel all other rust found was surface rust. The surface rust is mainly on the flat body surfaces (hood, top, trunk). The trunk floor and the floor in the passenger compartment are rust free. Their is very little body damage only small dents and scratches. All the bumpers are straight and complete with all brackets and rubber cushions. All the glass is present and in excellent condition with the exception of the windshield, which has a pellet gun star which failed to penetrate (no water leaks). All locks and door handles inside and out function well. Electric windows worked before storage, although d/s rear requires a new switch. All original hubcaps are present and in good shape. All taillamp lenses, headlamps, and headlamp surrounds are present and uncracked. All trim pieces are present. The original European cloth interior is all there and in decent shape. The carpet, headliner, and door panels are in good shape requiring only cleaning. All support mechanisms and adjustment assemblies on the seats function as they should. The seat upholstery will need at least some panel replacement. The front d/s seat back has a worn left bolster and the rear seat back has top panel damage from sun rot. The cloth covering the package tray is sun rotted also. The dash is complete with all gauges intact, functional, and in good shape. Dash vinyl has several cracks but no distortion, warping, or deterioration. Kick panels good. All interior wood accents are present and in good shape needing only stain and varnish. This vehicle is a restoration project or a parts vehicle. It is not registered and is sold under a valid California Lien Sale.
