1981 Mercedes Benz 380 SEL CabrioletBy Schutz Tuning I have owned this car for 15 years, I have always had the intent of restoring it, but too many projects occupy my time. I used to drive it regularly, it was always reliable. The car has been in storage for the past 10 years. It starts and runs, however the trans leaks, and has no fluid. But was shifting perfectly before. The car has VERY low original mileage. The car was built by SHULTZ tuning in Germany in the early 80's The conversion cost $90,000 at the time. http://www.benzworld(dot)org has info on Shultz tuning. There It has a full leather interior in parchment, even the door handles and door panels are leather covered, an it is dry but has no tears or rips. The Wilton wool headliner is good and original. The top is German canvas and very thickly padded, again there are no rips or tears and the plastic rear window is clear. There are no cracks in the dash. The top is power operated and works well, however the pump needs fluid, as it has been drained. The Glass is all custom providing a true pillar less design, all windows are power, and one of the rears need a small adjustment as it sticks sometimes . The car will come with a new stock steering wheel, as a 1980s wood NARDI wheel is fitted, it will also come with a set of EUROPEAN headlamps and the orange turn indicators as clear ones are fitted. The car is in Southern California, and has been a So. Cal car all its life. IT WILL NOT pass CA smog tests. but it does have a clear CA Title. It is a Grey market car. This unique car is an excellent project, and a VERY rare european tuner car, It will most definitely increase in value.
