Vehicle Detail
1969 Oldsmobile 442 with bucket seats and a 4 speed! I purchased this car about 5 years ago in Boston Mass sight unseen and was very, very pleased. It is 100% mechanically sound and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere anytime. This is a unmolested car when it comes to the correct hardware and such. It is a Canadian car and therefore has paperwork from GM of Canada proving that it is real and what options it came with. This car was born on September 30th 1968 and was shipped October 4th 1968. The trim code is 930 which is black vinyl, paint code 40 which is Saffron Yellow with option 2B a black vinyl top, and also stripe option 10 which is black stripes on the hood. Obviously from the pictures somewhere along this car's life it was decided to remove the vinyl top and paint the car a factory red color which is I must admit very sweet. The car currently has 79k miles on it and that is actual miles. Everything works on the car with the exception of the radio. It is present but does not work to my knowledge. This has yet to pose a problem as I would much rather listen to the factory exhaust through the trumpets. There have been absolutley no modifications to this car whatsoever and it has all of its correct components. This car is however missing the cowl tag that everyone is going to ask me about. Do to the fact that this is not my first Oldsmobile as I have had several 442s and one Hurst Olds several times I knew what to look for and how to prove it was real. It is very simple "34487" VIN proves first off that the car is in fact a real 442. At that point you know nothing more than what the guy/girl you are buying from can tell you or make up. This brings me to why I prefer "Made in Canada" 442s because they are 100% provable down to every option. The few issues that it does have are as follows: First, the dash pad is cracked directly over top of the famous working Tic-Toc-Tach. I do have a very nice replacement I purchased from out west and have yet to install.Second, it needs a hood insulation pad.Third, the "sail panels" need to be re-tucked but I only notice it due to owning the car.Lastly, it could use front carpet and at the right price I will provide that as well from Auto Custom Carpets To my knowledge there are no other issues with the car and to me it is one very solid excellent driver or better. If I didn't want a new garage and driveway I would keep this car forever as it looks good next to my '84 Hurst/Olds. They are the documents I rec'd from GM of Canada proving the car is real and a four speed.
