My brother-in-law bought this van from a handy-man in Clovis, NM several years ago. The object was to have a USEFUL van more than a restored one. It is useful . . . we have both used it to go to work, pick up the grand kids and groceries, etc. With that in mind, some previous owner installed a speedo and front signals from a '70's Bug, although the original bullet lites are still there, just not working. The rear lites are add-on and much brighter and safer than the originals. The engine is a rebuilt 1973 (I think) 1600cc dual port with a Weber Carb, spin-on oil filter, electric fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and new voltage regulator. The gas tank was also replaced. The body: we pounded out most of the dents and of course, there is a little Bondo. Rust on the undercarriage is light surface and the front floor has more, but it is solid. Remember, I haul my granddaughters in it, so the brakes work, including e-brake, all lights, and the heater. Last year my wife sanded the exterior and the interior walls, primered the outside and primered and painted most of the inside to stop any rust. She added insulation to most of the interior, hence the butcher paper covering it. It really made a difference in the noise level, and it's not done yet. There is no rear seat but a sofa/bed from an '80's GMC Duravan will fit perfectly. The seat covers are more comfortable than the Naugahyde underneath. The extra parts on the rear deck go with the van. Keep in mind that it's rated 1/2 ton and is a snap to park in today's tiny parking spaces. It's USEFUL as is, but you could restore it if you want. That wasn't important to us. This is a college town and the young co-eds will smile and flash you the peace sign even though they don't know what it means. Old geezers (like me) will look with faraway eyes and remember their youth 52 years ago. Is listed locally-- we reserve the right to remove if sold here.
