Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190D 2.5 Turbodiesel. This is the sought-after 190D 2.5 Turbo that has great pep, handling, and fuel economy. It has a very attractive color combination: Smoke Silver (or Gray) with a Black interior. The engine, brakes, tires (new Firestone with <2k miles), and body are fine but the transmission seems to excessively flare when trying to shift. It is possible that the vacuum lines are leaking/disconnected or the modulator needs to be adjusted or replaced or the kickdown switch is stuck, or something else more serious. I do not have the time or interest to have it repaired since I now have a company car. The car drives for a short distance but once warm the transmission starts to slip and then you cannot exceed 15 or so mph. However, to be safe, I will say that the transmission probably needs to be replaced and that this car cannot be driven and would likely need to be towed. I received a quote of $1350 for a rebuilt transmission (exchange) at http://www.europeanexchange.com/ 201-489-7770 in NJ. There are some cracks on the dash, wood, and plastic trim - I have seen all of these for sale on ebay at one point or another. The AC does not work. The seats are very nice with the exception of a straight tear on the drivers side backrest. The DS rear window does not work. The wheels are faded. The car is very sound structurally with no undercarriage rust. The body is quite good (not washed, waxed, or interior vacuumed in the pictures) although there are a couple of rust spots that could be easily taken care of in one afternoon. I live in CT but the car is located in Hawthorne, NY - 40 minutes north of NYC. You can buy the car through PayPal (even with your credit card) as long as you pay the extra fee. Contact me if you have an offer and perhaps we could end this auction early.
