Vehicle Detail

1954 mercury Monterey 256 Merc Y block motor new fuel pump & water pump, updated electronic ignition, Holley 550 cfm carb. Updated 12 volt wiring through complete vehicle, update all lights, bulbs & fuse panel with updated kit. All lights dash, interior and drive lights work great. Front suspension has been rebuilt & aligned, brakes, tires & duel exhaust replaced & have less than 3000 miles tires still look brand new with no wear. Car steers nice and drives straight no rattles, shakes or pulsation in brakes, very smooth ride and easy to turn. You wouldn t know this car dont have power steering! Car was restored in the late 80's I would guess most of the stainless trim and Chrome was replaced or plated more recently. Hood trim, rear bumper and taillamp bezels & lenses along with emblems and trim look NOS, the stainless trim is very nice and need very little to be perfect, Nothing is missing all interior stainless is nice as well. Mirrors, wing vents & front bumper are only pieces that really need chromed or replaced but are presentable. Paint finish is still pretty nice for old enamel, has some chemical spotting (frome storage) on the sides but is only visible in certain light during daylight you wouldn t know the spots are there. Car was owned by a 75 year old who wouldn t drive it anymore with it being a 3speed manual and couldn t keep up with the maintenance on the car, Im guess the car lived a very sheltered life since being refinished in the 80's. The further the car goes and the more miles it gets out the better it runs, I do drive and enjoy the car every day I put 200 miles driving in 95 degree heat on memorial day weekend and the car ran and drove great and ran 65 mph for about a two hour straight. The only things I havnt gotten to on the car since I purchased the car is the fuel tank sending unit gasket need replace, the speedometer dont work, the radio is not hooked up and the heated switch is stuck, the fan and all the dash levers and switches all work and are functional including vacume wipers. Car is very solid good floors & trunk pans, rocker panels and quarter look to have been patched when it was restored, inner wheel openings were fender skirts attach have had work done but has held up well. Floor braces look good on Lt side Rt side front two braces could use replaceing, I have found kits for the needed brace sections so they are available and wont be to hard to replace even if you need a shop to do the work for you. I have had the rear seat out of the car and the floor pans are nice. If your looking for a nice driver you wont have to waste time polishing & cleaning thats very presentable at any cruz night or car show, or just like old Merc's and want something different I think you would be pleased with the car. Anyone who may be in the area or have someone who would like to inspect the car or drive for themself are welcome to contact me for arrangements. Forgot to add the car does have seat belts added but are under the seats in the photos. Persons who purchase the car will be given information for the previous owner to contact him also, I send christmas cards every year with photos of the family with his car as he requested when I purchased it from him and would appreciate if that continues. Thanks all and good luck!!!!
