Vehicle Detail
Rare 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, 2 dr hard top, powered by a 429 cu. v8 Cobra Jet. Comes with a close ratio 4speed top loader transmission with Hurst shifter and console, 3:50 Traction-Loc rear end. I bought this car from the original owner in 1995 and it is a complete original factory equiped car with no modifications. The odometer is showing 47038 miles and according to the wear on the brake pedal this could be the total actual milage. The engine runs good with no noises or knocks and does not smoke. It does need a tune up. The transmision, clutch and rear end are tight. Car comes equipped with original rev limiter, Ram air hood and air cleaner, front power disk brakes, power steering with rim blow steering wheel. Stil has the original factory dual exhaust in great shape with exception of the exhaust tips which will need replaced. Also includes working am radio, factory special guage package, clock and 8000 rpm tach. All guages and tach work. Has the original competition yellow paint with the exception of drivers door. Has the white clarion knit vinyl bucket seats with black components. Includes front and rear spoilers ( the front is not attached in pictures). I have the original build sheet but due to water damage it is only partly readable. Included is a Marti report that shows there were only 865 made with this engine and transmission combo and only 1 of 26 with this paint and trim code. This car runs and drives great but will need a total cosmetic restoration. The worst part is rust out in the front floor boards. which are available thru Dearborn Classics. The rear floors are solid. The front corner of the left wheelwell has a some rust out to about 5" back from the front and the back edge of the trunk lid is rusting out. Other than a little surface rust I can find no other damage anywhere else including doors, cowls and window channels. The hood has had some repair work at the hinges. The rest of the car is solid and the underneath actually looks very nice with little surface rust including the frame rails. Body has a few small dents and dings the worst being the left front fender. The front bumper is very nice and bright, rear bumper has one small dent and the chrome is dull.Wind shield is cracked as is the dash near the guages but can be restored. Door panels are not too bad with the exception of one small tear in the left top. Driver seat has a splt seam in the bottom and a tear on the back. The rest of the seats are solid and useable. Will need a new headliner. All guages and accesories and heater work with the exception of the clock and the horn. The front nose piece has a piece broken out but will include a complete oem assembly. A note of interest is the left rear tire which was the spare is an original Firestone wide oval which would look good back in the trunk. I do have the arm rest for the left door, just havn't put it on. Exhaust manifold is the round performane header type not the flat ones and are marked DOOE-? Carburator is original quadrajet Autolite marked DOOF, Intake marked DOOE-8425-D 1R0, head is marked DOOE-R, rear end C-8 0FC 3L91 9-832-A. If you need other pictures, send me your e-mail address This car is a great restoration project without the hassel of having to find a bunch of rare parts. I wish I could do it myself but as I am now on a fixed income . So good luck and please bid freely for this very rare car. I have listed this car with no reserve
