Vehicle Detail
Heavily optioned & highly documented one of E-Cat originally purchased on lease to dealership in Northern California as a "Rolling Options Platform" for the '70 year model, $3100 base price with over $1800 worth of options added, 19 in total ! Purchased by my family in late '70's & used as a seasonal occasional driver, came into my hands at the turn of century. About 10 years ago it under went a major renovation, engine overhauled with balanced assembly etc, transmission overhauled & updated, complete front end rebuild, new uppers & lowers, tie rods, springs & shocks for all four corners as well as a four wheel brake job, carb overhauled by Pony Carbs & set up for the MSD ignition system upgrade, power steering pump & hoses replaced, A/C system refurbished, new radiator & cooling system service. Shortly after that we had the paint & interior/weather stripping redone as well as installing 15" Magnum 500's with BF Goodrich T/A Radials. The original speedometer was replaced and did work, read 72K+ miles but the trip meter was unreadable so we had it replaced with good one and set to 0000 so adding the two together should be the true mileage. It was stored since 2008 until recently when we decided to let it go, we put a battery in it/ fired it up but ran a little rough, we found that the fuel tank was shot & picking up crud clogging fuel filter so we had new tank & fuel lines installed & also had to replace drivers side power window motor, then did L.O.F, washed it, vacumed the carpet then took these pictures. This car runs strong, shifts great, steering, suspension & braking perform better then new, gearing allows effortless freeway speeds. As far as any rust damage there is none to speak of, super solid all the way around, the undercarriage is original showing only light patina of surface rust, no rust through, and original exhaust system with Ford stamped mufflers is worn & could use replacement but still serviceable. It does have a few issues that will eventually need to be addressed, the tach doesn't work & was told it needs an adapter to work with the MSD ignition, the A/C stopped blowing cold shortly after the heater core failed & would assume it will need a new heater core as well as evaporator coil to get the A/C going again. The rear power windows will need to be serviced, the bumpers are straight but need to be re chromed. Steering wheel and other original parts in picture are included. Overall this is a super solid and particularly rare packaged E-Cat with a lot of curb appeal & I was told by many that if restored for show it would most likely be a Best of Judge's candidate at every event it entered. This vehicle is a 42 year old turn key driver car sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. Please look over all the pictures & documents then if you have any specific questions contact me & I will do my best to get an answer to you straight away. Good luck on the Auction & Happy Cruisin this summer, maybe in a rare E-Cat !
