The needed Mechanical repairs are a VERY COMMON ISSUE with Saab Engines and relatively easy to cure, in a good repair shop. Mechanic inspection prior to bidding welcomed and encouraged. Please call, come and see car if you wish or order independent inspection. Has the upgrades of the SE package, body is very clean, no rust or dents, runs and drives but is throwing codes for check engine, engine idles rough until warmed up and there is engine noise, we learned by researching on line forums that Saab's oil screens are a fine mesh, and if oil is not changed every 3000 miles fanatically, sludge builds up and starves engine of oil... We spoke with Saab dealer and a reputable independent Saab mechanic and both said that dropping oil pan and cleaning screen may cure this, however there is a chance engine will need partial rebuild at some point in the future. Once engine is open and internal parts can be inspected, it will be wise to replace anything worn or damaged. Price quoted to clean oil screen is $300 - $400 as engine needs to be pulled to perform this maintenance and determine extent of needed repairs. Also, in the interest of full disclosure there is a feint rattle coming from left front wheel area when going over bumps, doesn't effect handling, but could need attention. Likely a tie rod end, a bushing, or worst case a strut mount or a CV joint, all relatively inexpensive maintenance repairs. Car runs and drives well now, probably as good as most Saabs here on Ebay, however I value my feedback, and would not want to sell someone a car that needs attention without diclosing what I know. We collect German cars, bought this car with a few others, have been driving this Saab and enjoying Top Down fun and sun, but we don't know Saabs and therefore we don't want to work on it.
