Vehicle Detail

1 9 8 5 M e r c e d e s 3 0 0 D T u r b o D i e s e l ~Factory Original California Car ~ Quality & Condition: Rare and hard to find Cabernet Red Metallic over Light Creme Beige 300D Turbo Diesel Sedan. This is a RUST FREE , California Car and it is simply gorgeous! Due to the fact the car is from California not only is this a dream to turn a wrench on (no rusty bolts), the undercarriage is amazing, many factory markings are still visible. All factory undercoating is still in place, clean and dry trunk, all factory body plugs are still in place, heck even the factory First-Aid kit is fully intact and original. As far as the interior goes, take a look at the pics, for a 1985 car, it's simply stunning. The seats and door panels are without rips or tears, headrests, armrest and seat backs are like new as well as all of the seat trim. (As you are shopping for these cars look closely at these cosmetics as these items can be costly to replace) The seat settings and dialsare fully functional as well. The carpeting does show some signs of wear but is still very nice and clean and it's all original. Paint & Body: Due to living its entire life in sunny southern California, the car was repainted the original factory color about a year or two ago. The quality of the paint job on a scale of 1-5, 5 being show quality is about a 3-4. This is approximately a $1500 base clear job and as you can see, it looks great and with that quality will last for years to come. Rarity & Performance: I searched high and low to find a clean car like this one and let me tell you although there are plenty of these cars on the market, far and few between look this nice, are this well serviced and are rust free. I assure you unless you buy a West Coast or Southern car, you will be hard pressed to find a rust free car. Many of these classics have been driven through Winter and its almost unavoidable and inevitable that they will have rust somewhere. Again, this car has very nice cosmetics and uncompromised performance, averaging 30 MPG!!! The 1985 Model Year was the last and for many is considered the BEST year for the 123 Chassis. I must say that this car runs, drives and performs fantastic and I have driven many of these with even lower miles. It really is a dream to drive. The car starts strong, does not smoke and idles smooth. Service & Maintenance: The key to a car this age performing like I am describing is Service and Maintenance. All maintenance on this beauty is up to date, as all of the essential items have been replaced with factory new components by a Mercedes professional, which unlike many other cars posted here... mine are all documented. The car currently has 187,000 miles on it, (The speedo says 85k, but it was just recently replaced) Recent service includes new front inner and outer bearings, both drivers and passenger side, new rotors, new brakes lines and new brake pads front and rear, new tires, new half shafts, and a brand new transmission. The total of this service alone is over $4000. I have all receipts and records validating this. I also just installed a very nice JVC Cd player w/bluetooth and remote. As you can see for yourself in the many high Resolution Pics, the body, paint and interior are in excellent condition. The car starts well even in very cold weather. Please note, I also installed a brand new battery. All that said one of my pet peeves with these classic Mercedes cars is the transmission. These cars can have very clunky and hard shifting or even slipping transmissions. However, this car is one of the smoothest, most silky shifting cars that I have ever driven. Take Note that I would not hesitate to drive this car across country. This Mercedes is reliable! Longevity & Reliability: This is a GREAT car with a GREAT history and will provide many more fun miles ahead... The reliability of this model Mercedes is not on trial here, it is well documented that with proper maintenance, these cars have can surpass half a million and have even made it beyond the Million mile mark, now that's performance. The reliability of this German icon is Guaranteed, history has already proved that. For me, I have truly enjoyed driving this car and now I hope someone else will find even more pleasant miles ahead. It's sure to be one of the most memorable cars you have ever owned. So the question is why after searching do long for a car like this am I selling it.. Well my fun has been in the hunt for the project and the restoration, so the wife says time to move on, we need the garage space, therefore, my toy has to go. This car is a true classic and with things in our economy constantly changing, having a reliable, consistently high MPG, easy to fuel, diesel car you can fix yourself, is a good idea, a very good idea! So, pull the trigger and make it happen. You deserve it! You need it! Just imagine tooling down the country side with the sunroof rolled back, your favorite music playing in the background and the beautiful metallic paint sparkling in the sunshine as you inhale the fresh air and the feeling of open road freedom. Ahhhh... These cars were built to last, to protect you and your family and to develop memories for years to come. Your journey begins now. Enjoy . If I have not covered anything that still remains a concern, please don't hesitate to call me directly. I'll be glad to spend some time chatting with you.
