Vehicle Detail
This is one handsomely put together and tightly fastened 1970 Mustang convertible. Black-on-black and recently restored, this car has newer paint, a rebuilt engine, rebuilt rear end, new interior, rebuilt front suspension, new radiator, new brakes and a new exhaust system that speaks loudly and with authority. Well built and well styled, this convertible makes a very sharp and clean presentation, and the sound from the rear pipes fairly crackles with excitement. It would be hard to find a better driving, better looking American drop top sports machine from the decade. People are drawn like magnets to this automobile. Formerly a six cylinder car, that engine was replaced with the period Ford 220 hp 302. This one has a cam, which is evidenced when firing it up. Issuing from a set of Boss 302 headers, the bark of the dual exhaust is, shall we say, forceful. The lope of the cam sounds race-ready, and when bidden, the motor pulls small-block hard. Rebuilt by a knowledgeable Mustang hobbyist, this power plant has only 500 miles on it and is barely broken in. Some adjectives that occur to the driver under acceleration are "smooth", "strong", and "boisterous". For a 42 year old Ford convertible, this vehicle is shockingly solid. Behind the wheel, there is no shake or shudder, no rattles or squeaks. The car feels like it was carved from steel. The odometer reads 43,666, and while that number has not been confirmed, the drive quality, the perfect condition of the dash, the near-new looking convertible top this Mustang left the factory with, all suggest those miles may be original and accurate. Coupled to the enhanced 302 is the factory stock C4 automatic, which shifts swiftly and positively. Stopping the car, are front brakes converted to power discs. The brakes and the front suspension were rebuilt using Boss 302 components. The gleaming black paint is a mere three years old, and contrasts nicely with the stainless rocker moldings. The owner states that during prep, inside and underneath the car, no rust issues or signs of an accident were found. The power top, as mentioned, appears almost new. It cranks up or down rapidly and efficiently with the touch of a lever. The rear window is glass, not plastic, a quality touch. A new tonneau snaps in place, covering the top when folded. The car looks great with the top up, even better with it down. Inside, occupants in the high backed front buckets, or in the rear seats, are swathed in soft new vinyl. The expansive and swooping dash, re-dyed, is original to the car and has no brittleness or cracks. The music system is expensive and powered by Alpine. It has a subwoofer artfully installed in the trunk. The car has a powerful stance. Lowered slightly, it rolls on brand new Remington 235-60-15s in front and 255-60-15s in the rear, all mounted on sparkling Ford Magnum chrome wheels. The title is clear and this Mustang is ready to gallop. Mechanically and cosmetically perfected, it will take you swiftly and comfortably anywhere you want to go. Garaged near Portland, Oregon and available for inspection by your representative. Restoration costs far exceed the opening bid of $15,000. Fly in and drive home, we'll pick you up at the airport.
