Vehicle Detail
1955 Willys Jeep 4X4 Pickup Truck. 57 years old and one of the original rock crawlers. As you can tell by the pictures this is a project with a multitude of posibilities or an excellent parts truck. It has been sitting for many years, the last time it was licenced or driven was 1978 and has been sitting ever since. It was a daily driver until the early 70's when it got recycled with a fresh coat of red paint, pin strips, a set of bucket seats out of a car and an aluminum I-beam front bumper. I am assuming that in 79 or 80 the transmission went out and it was removed from the truck along with the transfer case and the engine, which are currently in the bed of the truck. The engine is a "Super Hurricane" inline 6 (condition unknown), Spicer transfer case,( condition unknown), and a T-90 3 speed transmission ( appears to be only 1/2 there). The amazing thing about this old truck is the condition of the frame and the body. This Jeep has a very nice stance, it sets level and sets high with plenty of tire clearance. The frame shows no evidence of rust damage or any damage other than the usual surface stuff, and the body panels although there is some through rust it is very minimal and all the body panels and very straight. There is some through rust in the floor boards and even though they are still very solid they probably should be replaced, and there is some through rust in the front portion of the bed floor. The bed sides, and bed front are straight and the tailgate is near perfect. The driver side windsheild has one BB hole, but the rest of the glass is in good condition and appears to be original, and the door glass is still in the doors. The guages are still in the dash as they should be and the odometer reads 9,122 (anybodys guess on that). When I purchased this Jeep it came with an old Missouri title issued in 1977, it appears to be a good title but I have not been able to locate the VIN on the Jeep. I have checked all of the recomended places with no luck. I understand this can sometimes be a challenge on old vehicles. As you can tell I am no Jeep expert , but have tried to describe this vehicle to the best of my abilty. If I have missed something that you would like to know just ask and I will try to answer your question. If you would like to inspect the Jeep in person prior to the end of the auction again just ask and arrangements will be made. If you are looking for a new toy to restore back to original, build a rock crawler, or just a ruff and tuff hunting or fishing vehicle then this may be the one, and it deserves to be recycled one more time. Sold "as is where is" and the buyer is responsible any transportation costs if required. The winning bidder will not be disappointed in this purchase because the reserve is set very reasonable for the caliber of this truck.
