Vehicle Detail
A great deal on a nice, stylish Mercedes 200! I am driving this car daily, and while it is not fully restored, it works pretty well. The previous owner re-upholstered the seats and re-chromed some of the trim. He also repainted the car green from its original white. This is a pretty good paint job, not ultimate or anything, but it's a good color and it's in good shape aside from one place where it has sort of split along one of the body contours. I have had the front-end and steering column rebuilt. What it would need immediately is new tires. From there you could proceed at a leisurely pace, or not all. The car looks sharp, does not have rust, and is fun and economical to drive. I suppose the worst thing about it is that the heater core and blower are mysteriously absent! There are a few interior parts missing, like grab bars over the doors, and one of the vent louvers, and one passenger door doesn't want to open, which I haven't bothered to investigate. Basically, for a low price you get a pretty solid car from the appealing Fintail era, which can be enjoyed now. It is by no means trashed or beat up, it's just sort of a nice old car. The transmission shifts OK, occasionally it's a bit slow to shift but my garage didn't think a re-build was necessary unless it really bothered me. Brakes are OK, they could have a smoother feel but again the garage said they were acceptable for now.
