Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1975 Plymouth Scamp 2dr hardtop. This car was bought new in Chapel Hill, NC from Yates Motors. I've owned this old Mopar since 2008 and she has given faithful service to me without any problems. When I got her she had 57,000 on the odometer...it now reads 87,000. I haven't had a single problem with her for 30,000 miles of driving. The paintjob is from the 90s and is not a pro job by any means but is very presentable. Car originally had a white vinyl top but that was removed when the car was painted. (Probably a smart thing to do!) I have the original broadcast sheet that I found under the seat springs. I replaced necessary components on the A/C system and recharged it. The A/C blows cold and works well. I replaced the muffler and also replaced the front brakes and tires when I got her, this car is equipped with factory manual front disc brakes (big bolt pattern). I had the seats reupholstered in a factory like manner. The dash pad is original and in great shape. Car has a new trunk pan installed and repop trunk mat. I recently replaced the plugs and wires. The belts were changed when I first bought the car. I repaired the broken turn signal switch so it works. Radio is the original AM unit and works great, but there's not much on the AM band these days so I added an AUX jack so now you can play your MP3 player/Ipod through the radio. The 225 Slant Six has never been apart except to adjust the valves and replace the old valve cover gasket. I put a new radiator and hoses in the car last year. New Alternator. The front suspension was totally rebuilt and car aligned last year as well. This car is a 904 automatic, I recently replaced the filter and fluid. I replaced the wiper transmission gaskets and linkage bushings. Grease fitting were added to the transmissions so that they can be lubed. The body is pretty solid but the front floor pans and rear quarters need attention. Front floor pans have some holes, but the majority of the metal is still there. I pulled out the insulation to keep it from holding in moisture. Probably will need new lower quarters as they are thin in some places and have holes forming. This car has always been kept outside. She's in a lot better condition than a lot of cars I've seen! New trunk lid gasket still needs to be installed. I got a generic one in the car now. I've driven this car on 9+ hour trips with no problems. She drives real good on the interstate, the 2.76 rear gears help keep the RPMs low and save on gas. I repaired the "Fuel Pacer" system in the car and it works as it should. The driver's fender mounted turn signal will glow when you aren't driving economical. (Perfect for today's terrible gas prices!!) This car would make a great daily driver and is very reliable! You could drive around town in 1970s style! (Gimmie two of those chicken pot pies!) You may notice that the car has manual transmission pedals installed in it. I was originally going to put a A833 overdrive transmission in the car. I have all the components necessary to do the swap. The original automatic pedal box has been reinstalled. It took me a while to collect all the parts, but if someone wants the setup they probably talk me out of it for additional cost. I also have a complete 1976 Valiant 4dr parts car that could be included for additional cost as well. Car has a clear NC title.
