Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop Coupe. This car was originally a six cylinder car which has been completely rebuilt inside and out. The body of the car is straight and in perfect condition with almost all original sheet metal except the rear valance panel. Painted Ford pearl metallic Toreador red a few years ago, the paint is beautiful in the sunlight and gets many compliments. A few normal nicks in the paint and mislabeled touch-up paint make it probably a ten foot job currently but with a small amount of professional touch up to a couple panels it could be show-quality. List of new body work includes, new gas tank, trunk floor, rear trunk cross member, and the full floor pans from trunk to firewall. The car has new leaf springs in back and new coil springs in front. The v-8 upgrade included swapping in a ford 9” rear end with 10” drum brakes and 5 lug nut 10” drum brakes up front. The wheels are vintage ET five spoke Mag wheels with all four center caps, although the chrome is chipping on a couple of them which I usually leave off (not pictured). The motor is a 1970 Ford 302 with mild performance upgrades. The engine has flat top hypereutectic pistons, a Lunati voodoo hydraulic flat tappet cam, HEI style ignition, MSD 6Al ignition box, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Holley 650 mechanical secondary carb, aluminum radiator, and an electric fan. The motor is backed by a C6 transmission professionally rebuilt before the installation. The car runs and drives but has some mechanical issues that need to be ironed out by a mechanic. The motor runs with an obvious tick at idle and has some vibration issues at speed. I feel both issues could be easily fixed by a professional. The car originally had a red standard interior but has been completely redone with new parts in black. It has a new moonskin headliner, new door panels, all interior panels freshly painted black, new original style carpet, new vinyl on all the seats, new glove compartment door and box, a custom Autosound receiver(not yet wired to the new speakers in the back), and a custom six gauge, gauge cluster with Autometer old time gauges. The C6 is operated with a B&M shifter. The glass is all original with new weather-stripping around the windshield and back window; it also has new felts around the door windows and new edging on the doors. Over the entire car is in great condition and is an extremely solid car needing very little work to finish it to a perfect driver in like new condition.
