Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a car from the most desirable year for the Triumph TR-6. This is a 1976 model, the last year the car was manufactured. More importantly, you are bidding on one of the last TR-6's to roll off the line. There were only 50 TR-6's that were manufactured after this one during the last week of production in July 1976. This car is the highly sought after color combination of British Racing Green and New Tan interior. This car has been adult owned and has been garaged for at least the last eight years. The prior owner told me it had always been garaged. The car is eye ctching and mechanically sound. I purchased a brand new TR-6 in1974 and sold it in 1980. I kicked myself in the backside for selling the car for the next 20 years and found this one in 2004. I purchased the car in from an attorney in Ventura County, CA and he had acquired the car from an owner in Auburn, WA. The previous owner continued the restoration begun by the Washington owner, putting about $7,000 into the car before he sold it to me. I added a new windshield, new seatbelts, steering wheel, spark plug wiring, etc. and had a number of minor oil leaks repaired. Mechanical Condition I have a documented maintenance history on this car going back to 1997. I'll be happy to provide that to prospective buyers. Engine oil pressure is excellent. A new timing chair was installed prior to my purchase of the car. The original Strongberg carbs have ben replaced with SUs. The air pump was removed by a previous owner. The car has been converted to electronic ignition for reliability. The alternator works great. Brakes are fine (original front disks and rear drum). Transmission is NOT overdrive and works great. Reverse does tend to pop out at times when lots of prerssure on the system but stays when you hold down. Forward gears are great and smooth. Exhaust system is fine (no catalytic converter). Suspension has been re-done. Rear shocks converted to regular shocks. New KONI's were installed just prior to my purchase of the car. All bushings were replaced with new poly/synthetic bushings. Cosmetic Condition Interior is exceptional. Seats stripped to frame, sanded, painted and new webbing and foam installed. New upholstery. Dash is like new. Walnut - 75 instead of 76 since wood was not available for 76. Gauges work fine. Carpet is in great shape. Also included are Triumph floor mats not shown in photographs. The car comes with a tan booot, a new black tonneau cover and a brand new soft top (not installed). I also have a full body dust cover for the car and that is included as well. I'm also including a complete TR-6 Shop Manual to assist you with the routine maintenance that all British sports cars love to have. The car was painted several years ago and the paint is generally in excellent condition. There are minor scratches in the paint in some areas but generally not noticeable from any distance. The paint is not mint. A previous owner added side guards to the doors and when they were removed they left small impressions in the paint. This would be an easy repair in the event you ever wanted to pursue a more complete restoration. The bumpers looks great however on close inspection you will notice some minor pitting and a small dings in the back bumper. The tires are Pirelli 400's with a lot of tread left.I recently installed a new Sony sound system (i-Pod and i-Phone compatible) with beefed up rear speakers. Sounds great. NOTE: Although the odometer shows 19,231 I have no idea if this is accurate or not (I doubt it). It looks like the speedometer is fairly new so this may be an inaccurate number. I can tell you that since 2004 I've put less than 5,000 miles on the car. I've driven it less than 10 times a year and then only for short scenic drives around Birmingham. OK. I've tried to cover everything in as much detail as I could. I want to sell this car with no surprises. If you live anywhere close to Birmingham, AL I'll be happy to allow serious buyers to inspect the car. This car hasn't been fully restored but most people who see it seem to think it has been. I can tell you one thing, I've never seen a car that generates ans much interest as this one. I've never taken it out for a drive without multiple people stopping me (sometimes while pulling up next to me at a stoplight) to comment on the car and ask questions. Want to feel young again? This is your baby. Questions, feel free to give me a call on my cell. 205-561-8106. Serious buyers only.
