Vehicle Detail

Previous bidders please note: The title for this vehicle is clear and is now in hand. VIN # 62662025. The first year for the Buick Riviera. This 1951 hardtop coupe is in need of a comprehensive rebuild and restoration. The photos tell the story -- straight body, sandblasted to bare metal and primered, no real interior, except a weathered dash and a rear seat, some manageable rust in the floorboards, minor rust in the doors, no title, and no engine or trans. (BUT WE CAN OFFER BOTH, SEE BELOW). What the car does have is front and rear bumpers, with extra bumpers and fenders, an engine bay ready for an engine transplant, a 63 Wildcat rear end in place, 17" knock-off wire wheels powder-coated white, a supply of factory hubcaps and other hard to find odds and ends, and most importantly, high potential as a reborn Riviera or a custom street rod. The price for all this raw splendor is $2,000. For an additional sum, we can supply your choice of Buick engines and transmissions, either of which will bring this coupe back to roaring life. Choice 1 is the 455 and Turbo 400 originally intended to be installed here. Removed from a 1971 Electra with only 60,000 miles on it, the engine is rated at around 360 hp and the trans is the stalwart GM three-speed. Both are tight and ready to run. If you're interested in more performance, we have a set of A-body headers and a TA high-rise aluminum intake manifold, both designed for this engine and guaranteed to really rip. We'll sell the engine and trans with headers and high-rise for $1950. Choice 2 for motive power is the venerable 401 Buick Nailhead coupled to a four-speed manual. Engine and trans are lower miles examples, once again tight and ready to run. But what makes this offering truly potent is the dual-quad Carter carburetors and intake -- factory original Gran Sport induction from the air cleaner down. The carbs and intake have been sandblasted, cleaned and painted. They come with all lines and linkage, factory intake manifold, and beautiful Buick Nailhead finned valve covers. This is a bolt-in proposition, no rebuilding or refurbishing necessary. 401 engine, 4 speed trans, and GS induction -- $4500. Buy one set-up, buy both, or buy the Riviera alone and build your own idea. Winning bidder arranges transport, for a small charge we'll assist with crating engines and transmissions for shipping.
