Vehicle Detail
This 1915 Model T Touring car has 'been in the barn' since 1958! I bought this car from an elderly gentleman who bought the car in 1956. In 1958 he dismantled the car to build the car into a Speedster. He had the engine professionally rebuilt at that time using new vintage Buick aluminum pistons for better performance, and had new linings put on the brake/clutch bands in the transmission. The engine is not stuck, and can be turned over using the hand crank. This is a hand crank start only engine, it does not have electric start. He gathered up another period correct rear axle and torque tube drive shaft and many other parts as seen in the photos. He never ran the engine, but put everything inside a shop/shed building where it sat until about 2 weeks ago. His plan to begin his Speedster project was put on hold due to family and business considerations, and he decided he would save the car for a retirement project. However, he has come down with Parkinson's and sadly cannot do his cherished Speedster project. Here is a rundown of many of the parts that go with the car.Two very good front fenders, with a 3rd fairly decent front fender. The two rear fenders are decent, and show signs of earlier repairs, they will need some more minor body work to be perfect. The brass radiator is good original, and has a good spare core to go with it. The reproduction hood is all aluminum. The spare body parts have some 'patch panels' for the front lower part of the tub, the running boards are very good, the splash panels are good but will need some minor body work.'The orginal steering wheel is repairable, there is a coil box with 4 coils, 3 headlights with several trim rings, the convertible top mechanism that holds the top wooden bows is all complete with some spare parts. There is a good spare folding windshield frame. There is a spare correct rear leaf springs pack that is unassembled. The gas tank and brackets are good. There are 3 carbs that go with the car. There are no interior parts such as seats, firewall, dash board components, steering column or steering box. It will need spark plugs, wires, and ignition wiring. Remember, this was going to be a Speedster project so the previous owner did not care about saving such things as the touring seats, and over the years the steering column and misc ignition wiring was lost, or maby even 'borrowed' by someone. The wooden spoke wheels are well worn and should be replaced with new wood spoke wheels or wire wheels. The engine has always had pipe plugs in the spark plug holes to seal the engine, but I removed those for the pictures. The rear axle under the car is from a later model T. The winning bidder will need to send full payment within 7 business days end of the auction, and I will send a bill of sale to them. There is no title with the car, since it was never assembled and registered. I can store the car for the winning bidder for up to 60 days at no charge where it is stored in SW Idaho, about 45 miles west of Boise. I don't use PayPal so payment will have to be by bank certified check. I don't need any trades. The serial number of the engine is 982581NOTE- If this Model T does not sell during this auction, I might relist it under 'parts' and part it out. I can actually part it out and make more money then selling it whole as a project, but I hate to part it out! I would really like to see it go to a home where it will be built as a Speedster or as an original touring car.
