Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Rare 1960 MGA Coupe, California Car This is a very restorable running MGA Hardtop Coupe that has been sitting in a dry barn in Ventura County since 1981. It is one of only 826 left hand drive coupes built in 1960 and one of about 9900 coupes built of all models and years. This car was built in March 1960 and appears to be an original “Chariot Red” car with original equipment 48 spoke wire wheels and front disc brakes. The body is an excellent rust free example. I can find no rust anywhere and the body is straight with no accident damage. All the glass is good and the rare rear windows are very nice. It is missing the small trim pieces around the front and rear glass but the side windows are complete and the frames are very nice. The interior is tired from sitting all those years but all the coupe unique parts are there with the exception of one interior door top piece. The dash instruments are nice and the fuel gauge and the dash light still work. The seats look like MGB seats. Some extra parts are included. The engine was changed many years ago is an MGB 5 main bearing unit from early 1965 which was the first year for that engine. It is 18GB-U-H-4215. It runs very well with clean fuel to the carburetors. It started right up and ran smoothly, revved up and idled well. There was no smoke or noises from the engine. It also has an oil cooler. The original fuel pump is not working from sitting.The transmission seems to be moving freely through the shift pattern. All hydraulics are dry from sitting so long. This is a great find for a very clean rust free coupe for restoration. These are a very rare find especially in this kind of condition. I bought it at an estate sale for myself but have decided to finish my other projects first so it is now for sale. I have the car advertised locally and reserve the right to remove it from ebay.
