Up for bid is a classic 1989 Mercedes Benz 300 SE. This is the last of the classics Benz's. The car is in excellent condition and has a lot of work done to it in the last year. This luxary sedan has only 108K original miles and has been used as a daily driver. These cars have been known to drive for well over 300K, so this one has a lot of life in it. It has great pick up on the highway and gets 25MPG, which is anazing for a car of it's size and power. I regularly use premium (BP 93 Octane) and clean the fuel injectors every 3K miles. I acquired this Benz from a MB dealership who owned it since it was new. Mechanically the car runs great and has been used as a daily driver for the past year, so, the car has been driven on a regualr basis. It also has passed NJ State inspection with flying colors, so there shouldn't be any issues there. The body is in very good condition (a few little minor dings but nothing major) and there is no rust or bubbling what so ever. All power features work, including the sunroof. The chrome is also in good shape there is a few areas where the chrome is dull but not noticable until you look real close at it. The car has been detailed inside and out with a smoothed out with a clay bar and hand buffed with two coats of Zymol cleaner and carnuba wax. The wax should be good for a year. The car looks great from close up and far away. I consitently get comments and the cars stands out in a parking lot full of modern day cookie cutter cars.The car was originally purchased for car shows and won a few awards locally. Here is what has been done: Tune Up (2011), New All Season Tires (about 10K on them), Front and rear brakes and rotors (2011), new Oxygen sensor (2011), new headlights (2011), Air Filter/Oil Change (2012), Tranmission Service (2011), all major belts and hoses replaces (2011), replaced sunroof motor, and seasonal AC service. Here is what needs to be done: front and rear ball joints and tire rods are very worn and need to be replaced (quoted $600 by MB), orginal radio powers up but ampliphiers in back are shorted out ($150 to fix Becker Pro Audio), visor clips are broken ($20 on ebay), two repairable tears in both drivers seat and passenger seat (quoted $300 to replace leather or $125 to repair), engine and transmission mounts will need to be replaced in the near future, small oil leak around valve cover gasket (not a major issue), AC needs to be recharged each season ($75) because there is a small leak, cold start injector needs cleaned and/or replaced ($100), and it is due for and oil change within the next 3K miles. Title History: The car has a clean NJ title but was deamed a total loss in 2011 due to storm damage from a tree limb. The car had very minor cosmetic damage, but due to the age the car, it was totalled. The damage was repaired except a very small dent on the front grill. It wasn't worth it to replace the whole grill. The owners manual, radio manual, and service records were lost at the dealership when I bought the car. I don't have them but I do have the complete MB 300 series maintenance manual used excluesively by MB. These manuals run about $400.00. I will include the maintenance manual with the car if you want it. The car is eligible for classic car insurance and plates which if you don't plan on driving it a lot is a great option. Older cars require regular maintenance. If this car is maintained it will run a long time. I strongly recommnend understanding the above listed items of what needs to be done, these are to the best of my knowledge and what was recommended by Mercedes Benz.
