1953 MG TD. This car was restored back in the mid 1970s. The acorn green nitrocellulose lacquer is faded and a bit dull. There are some small spots of surface showing through, especially on the edge of the left front fender, where a thin layer of bondo has chipped off. The car is a really nice driver. The numbers match and it is very origional in appearance and specification. It has the origional airbath aircleaner and manifold. The following is a summary, to the best of my memory, of its recent maintainance and condition: Engine: Bottom end of engine rebuilt w/ crank .020 under. New rocker shaft and rocker arms rebuilt. about 9000 miles ago. Transmission shifts and spins smoothly. As is typical, the synchros are a slightly lazy. 9000 miles on clutch. Recent Moss starter and generator. Gas tank, which is a nice replacement, in gray primer, was cleaned and sealed 6 years ago. New authentic SU solid state (trouble free-no points) pump. New windshield glass. Chrome is presentable (patina) with a very nice radiator shell. Sheetmetal is in outstanding shape with a few small spots of surface rust. Tub wood is fine, drivers door latch could use threaded inserts to make it more secure. Really nice all stainless steel exhaust. All guages work fine (except clock). Walnut dash with the nicest chrome beading and glove box door fit that you will ever see! Previous owner had the braking system and front suspension and steering redone and a new wiring harness installed back in 1991. New tires, tubes, and wheels powdercoated 2 years ago. Recent Moss repro steering wheel w/ fitted leather cover. Seats were rebuilt with Moss leather, foams, horsehair pad and all new wood bases and back. Includes the balance of the new interior panels and upholstry to complete the interior...I was waiting until after painting. Canvass top in fair condition and matching side curtains in great condition. Nice black naugahyde full tonneau cover. NOW THE BEST PART: REAREND HAS THE MOST DESIRABLE MODIFICATION TO A 4.3 RATIO MGA RING AND PINION with the speedometer rebuilt and recalibrated to match. This makes the car a joy to drive. Instead of 52 mph at 4000 noisy and destructive rpms, it cruises effortlessy and quietly at 60 mph at 3500 rpms. I will sell the car to bidders in the lower 48 states only.
