Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1986 Camaro IROC Z. 5.0 L, 5 speed. I bought this car to restore, but have too many other things going on that are more pressing. The car is a sound driver, I drive it every day as my main transportation...(it gets a lot better mileage than my crew cab big block truck!) The car is very fun to drive and extremely dependable. Main point of interest- the car has a 6 point roll cage and racing harnesses in it. I was going to remove it and replace the back seat...not hard at all. The other point of interest is that this was a TPI car and has an Edelbrock carb, aluminum intake, and accel HEI coil pack. It runs really well, but if you want an original IROC it should be changed back to TPI. I've found TPI setups on ebay for 200-300 bucks. Back seat plan on spending about 60 to 100. The car runs and drives great, doesn't wander or have slop in the steering. Brakes are great, power steering great, heating great, transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch is great too. Everything works on the car (heat, power windows, turn signals, lights etc.) It has disc brake rear end and posi. The original wheels are in fantastic shape with original factory paint. I have another set of the machined ones if you would rather have those. The body could use some minor work, but is real solid. There is a dent on top of the driver's fender, a spot on the bottom of the driver's fender that the paint peeled and started to surface rust. Someone cleaned it up and spray painted the spot to keep from rusting. The front bumper cover has a small to medium tear just above the headlight. No rust underneath. All of these spots are easily fixed for a new paint job. It doesn't look like a piece of crap, but I'm just stating what needs done to be dead on. The interior is fair, probably considered good for a car this age. Dash is perfect with no cracks or dull spots, steering wheel is perfect, pedals all look good. Seats need redone for a nice car. The inside has not been cut up or modified..even for the cage. Just the back seat removed. The racing harnesses are a pain for every day and I have a set of seat belts I just bought that will be included with the car. It has the 140 mph speedometer and an Auto Meter pro lite oil pressure guage. Needs new carpet for a nice car. A little tinkering and this would be a great driver...it's a lot of fun to drive. Dive in a little more to restore it if you want an original. It would be a pretty easy restoration, like I said that's why I bought it. Email with any questions and thanks for looking! On Mar-14-12 at 20:41:59 PDT, seller added the following information:I noticed on the vehicle report that Ebay provides that for a period of time there was a salvage record on the car. I'm not aware of the details of this, but when I got the title back from the state of Illinois there were no issues at all and it says ORIGINAL under type of title. It is not a salvage title. Also, as for the condition of the car, I haven't seen any signs of an accident, no subframe ripples, welded areas, redone spot welds etc. Just wanted to clarify to the best of my knowledge.
