Vehicle Detail
This is a 1979 Ford F-350 Ranger XLT Car Hauler. A friend purchased this truck brand new, in Jan. of '79, as a cab & chassis, at Randall-Sanders Ford, in Rogers, Arkansas. He put the ramp-style car hauler bed you see here, on the truck at that time. Truck is very original and very straight, with exception of bumper which is slightly bent. Truck is also very well equipped for a '79 F-350. Knowing it was going to be a car hauler, truck was well ordered with quite a few factory options. Besides the Ranger XLT trim package, truck has the factory J-code 460 V-8, C-6 auto, fact.(long) 161in. wheel base, 3.73 locking rear, power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, speed control, intermittent wipers, factory air cond., tinted glass, dual tanks, cab lights, cargo light, fact. bright mirrors, and fact. door edge guards. Truck stayed in the dry climate of Arkansas until I purchased it in 1997. Since then, I have kept it garaged and avoided driving it in inclimate weather. Truck is very clean for age, with no rust out. Truck has never been undercoated. Fenders, hood, and cab are all solid. Underside of floors and cab mounts still have original factory prime finish with only slight surface rust present(see pics). Doors are basically solid, but inner bottom edge, where skins wrap around, have some surface rust and need some attention. Paint on truck is original maroon metallic. It still shines, but is showing its age. Blemishes include a couple small surface rust spots, and some small spots of chipped paint. Interior is original. Seat with fact. red cloth is still very good, as it was always covered. Headliner is nice. Door panels are decent. Dash pad has cracks and carpet needs replacing. Glass in truck is good, except windshield has crack. Mileage shown is 95,940, which I assume to be 195,940, but is not documented. To my knowledge, truck is all matching numbers right down to carb. Truck still runs and drives good for age, but engine is probably due for rebuild. It leaks quite a bit of oil(valve covers, intake, and rear main) and has a little blow-by. Trans was rebuilt several years ago. Dual exhaust is still decent. I put the Firestone tires on in '97, and they are still decent. Rear gas tank is factory plastic and is fine, but it has a sheet metal splash shield on underside that is rusted. Air conditioning is complete and intact, but compressor had a leak several years ago and does not cool. Speed control is likewise complete and intact, but quit working. Bed is a compact but functional 15 1/2 ft. long(truck hauled a '60 Chevrolet Impala a couple of months ago). Bed is approx. 86in. wide. Truck is equipped with the original Ramsey 8,000lbs. elect. winch, which still operates good. Two 7ft. aluminum ramps are included. Bed has a trailer hitch at rear, and truck has pulled a trailer with an additional car many times, in years past. Just about all of the original paperwork is with truck including original owner's manual with matching owner's service card, matching incomplete vehicle manual, and original window sticker(see pics). A new set of cab lights, the RH bumper guard, and the RH cab corner molding are included and go with truck(see pics). This might just be another old truck to some, but I think others might recognize it as the survivor it is. It looks neat as-is, or would easily restore. It would be a unique addition to any Ford collection. Truck is in dry, heated, lighted building and is availlable for inspection. Please email or call Karl at 317-361-8522 for appointment. Title is clear. A $500.00 deposit is required with-in 24 hours, and balance is to be paid with-in 7 days. Truck is to be picked-up here in Indianapolis, IN with-in 30 days, unless other arrangements are made. Your bid buys straight original 1979 Ford F-350 XLT Car Hauler as shown.
