Vehicle Detail
Just in time for summer cruising. Here is a beautiful 1953 Studebaker Starliner custom hot rod. It is fast and lot‘s of fun to drive!” Also, it sounds awesome with the new mufflers! It has less than 250 miles on it since it was completed. I purchased it from the builder who was building it for his personal driver, but had some financial challenges, and had to sell it. He had built numerous custom cars, and this one is another example of his craftsman’s ship. Here are some of the specifications on the car: 350 Chevrolet engine with 4 bolt main; the “top end” was completely rebuilt including new heads, valves, valve guides and seats. The compression is 125+ across all cylinders. It runs just great. Edelbrock cam, lifters, polished aluminum water pump, and carburetor; roller timing chain; chrome oil pan and water neck; new aluminum low-profile air cleaner; Ceramic coated heavy duty exhaust headers; Chrome alternator; new MSD HEI distributor; new Accel plug wires; chrome valve covers; new flywheel; new aluminum crossflow radiator (big block) with large thermostatically controlled electric fan; new transmission cooler; rebuilt power steering box; new chrome power steering pump assembly, and power Wildwood disc brakes (front); new 16 gallon aluminum fuel cell and new Painless wiring harness. It does have power steering. There is no heater or A/C. The wheels are all new Weld Rod Lite Wheels (chrome). The rear tires are Mickey Thompson Sportsman 29X15.50-15LT (that is 15 ½” wide tires!), and front are 205/14. Both are brand new and still have the “tire hair” on them. It has a 9” Ford rear end which has been narrowed, and a 1970 Nova front sub frame. It has been tubbed, and the front of the roof has been chopped 1 ½”. The transmission is a rebuilt 700R4 with 6” Lokar shifter. Turbo mufflers exhaust out the side and sound terrific. The front springs, shocks, rear drum brakes and ball joints are all new. It has new Studebaker “Strato” rear view mirrors. The gauges are all new Auto Meter, and the tachometer is an Equus. The upholstery is brand new as is the paint, which is a PPG base coat clear coat, “Brite Carmel Metallic”. The steering wheel is custom Mahogany and Leather (horn button works), and the dash is custom fabricated brass. It has a Chevy steering column, with tilt control. The seats are Trans AM bucket seats (manual) with seat belts. It does not have a sound system. It handles great and never has a problem overheating as the temperature stays between 195 and 205. Its steering is tight and very responsive. Did I mention that it is FAST?!! The engine always starts right up, and is very reliable. It is real fun to drive and people are always waving and doing “thumbs up” when they see it. Obviously, a lot of money and care has been put into this great street rod. The reserve however, is a fraction of what has gone into putting it together. This is truly one of those rare opportunities to have a great car at a bargain price! I am down-sizing my collection and this is one toy I don't have time to play with as much as I'd like! This is one fun car! On the city streets or at the strip, you will enjoy it as I have! Take a look at all the pictures, make sure you read the listing again to understand what you are bidding on. I am a long time collector of classic car's for more than 30 years.
