Vehicle Detail
up for auction is a super solid 1968 Dodge Charger project car. Originally a 383 Big Block car, it now has a 1968 440 that runs good. The 440 has aluminum intake and headers. exhaust was replaced 2 years ago. Motor fires right up and runs great. The only things this car really needs to be roadworthy again are new brakes(the car stops, but barely), and the trans is slipping. it can be driven on a trailer, but the trans is tired. Also, the gas tank is new, but when i had the car shipped to me the transporter had a chain rubbing against the tank and rubbed a hole in it, so it leaks. Will need repaired. The car was originally from New Mexico, that is why the body was so solid. I don't have time to restore this car right now so i am putting it up for auction. The body, like i said, is VERY solid. front to back as follows: grill- extremely nice i don;t see any cracks or breaks, all original, headlight doors/vacuum system still operates properly. hood- rust free, a couple small dings on front edge as seen in pic fenders couple hickeys on the fenders, but rust free and very useable. doors- while rust free, they are pretty banged up. i do have a mint driver's door with glass to go with car. interior-driver seat was recovered and is comfortable and nice, just not correct pattern. rest of seats are original. have not checked for build sheet. dash is in good shape overall. i think it is missing one door panel, the other upper pad is in the trunk. roof- was a non vinyl top car, so the roof is mint. no rust or scale quarters- besides the obvious dent on the front of the driver quarter, it is almost rust free, and i believe it can be worked. passenger side has a touch of rust down low, and on top end has some body work needed. overall pretty amazing original quarters for 44 years old. trunklid- couple dings on back edge, rust free rail around trunk lip- these always rot on 68-70 chargers. this one is clean. rear valance- amazing for a 68 charger. the passenger rear corner is the only piece with any rust.. floors- floors have scale, but drivers front floor and rear floors have no holes. passenger front has 2 small holes, and i would replace that single pan trunk floor- scale but no holes that i can see. original jack is in place and trunk is SOLID! amazing! frame rails- solid front to back. NO RUST As you can see, the car has some dents and dings and need restoration, but this car is LIGHT YEARS ahead of most projects i see here on ebay. some guys are getting 6-7k for projects needing frame rails and look like they were lowered they are so rusty. this is a running car that you can spend one weekend on, then drive as you restore it. you do not see unmolested original paint cars come along too often on ebay, no surprises with this one. what you see is what you get. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. i have set the reserve EXTREMELY low and the BIN is cheaper than almost any other 68-70 on ebay. That being said, i do reserve the right to end this auction early at any time for any reason, as the charger is for sale locally. payment due within 7 days, shipping/pickup responsibility of buyer, i will assist any way i can with loading. Thanks for looking and good luck!!
