Vehicle Detail
Rolls-Royce's most significant model since the Silver Ghost was the Silver Shadow which , took 11 years to come to fruition and included many technical refinements. Under the code name Tibet, this model was the first Rolls-Royce to use monocoque or unitary construction. The Silver Shadow was a huge technical leap forward from its predecessors. The car had every luxury option possible at the time. Gear change, windows, seat adjustment, fuel filler cap, aerial, air conditioning and heating were all electrically operated. A hydraulic system with pumps operated from the camshaft was also a considerable advance, as were power-operated disc brakes and self-leveling independent suspension. The Silver Shadow was launched in October 1965, priced at 6,556 pounds. This made it 900 pounds more expensive than the Cloud III, but in technical terms the Silver Shadow was superior - easily the most superior model ever offered by Rolls-Royce up to that point. THIS CAR IS IN PERFECT CONDITION.... WAS CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN, GARAGE KEPT.. NEAR SHOW QUALITY! This excellent 1967 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow has only 49k original miles and is all original. We tracked it back to having 2 previous owners Mechanically the vehicle is in great condition and has not been hacked up like many Shadows have. Recently serviced including filling the hydraulic system with fresh RR363, flushed the cooling system, replaced the thermostat, changed the oil and filter, and re-tourqued bolts per factory service manual. Also, new we replaced all new plugs and electrical wiring. The interior is in great condition and the wood shows almost no ware, the leather is in above average condition and also shows only minor wear and NO cracking or tears or stains. The Wilton wool carpets are in superb condition and look almost brand new. We are happy to include the hand made Oriental Rugs I am using as floor mats. The electronics all function including the seat controls. All windows function properly from their respective switches. All gauges function and are accurate. The body and chassis are rust free and solid. There are a few very minor door dings on the right front door. The paint is the original laquer and if you are familiar with the way Rolls-Royce painted their cars in those days you are aware that they tend to crack after 20 years. fortunately, this car was kept in a garage for all its life so the only minor cracking is near the window pane Please look at the photos to see the spots where it has begun to crack. The worst part is the center of the roof where the paint has cracked to the point where some has flaked off (please see pic). Due to this classic Shadow being 100% original the previous owner had chosen to keep it "unmolested" and not re-paint the top, or any of the car.No Known Accidents No Known Bodywork Fully Detailed Original Paint Shows Checking In A Few Areas, very minor Technical Data-8 cylinder 90 degree V-configuration, aluminium-silicon alloy cylinder block with cast iron wet cylinder liners, bore x stroke 104.14 x 91.44 mm (4.1 x 3.6 in), engine capacity 6,230 cc (from 1969 bore x stroke 104.14 x 99.06 mm (4.1 x 3.9 in), engine capacity 6,750 cc for export models; from 1970 standard on all models); aluminium alloy cylinder heads, SU-carburettors; 4-speed automatic gearbox (3-speed automatic gearbox for export models with destination USA or Canada, from 1968 standard on all models); independent suspension with coil springs front and rear, hydraulic self-levelling height control front and rear (from 1969 deleted on front suspension); disc brakes front and rear; wheelbase 3.035,3 mm (119.5 in) (from 1969 long wheelbase version 3,136.9 mm (123.5 in) optional), from 1971 wheelbase 3.041,6 mm (119 3/4 in), from 1974 wheelbase 3,048 mm or long wheelbase 3,149,6 mm (120 in or 124 in); tyre size 8.45 x 15 cross-ply (from 1972 tyre size 205VR15; from 1974 tyre size 235/70HR15 This Vehicle is Being Sold "As-Is."
