Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION Re-Advertised, due to bidder who had no money to pay for the car. Please remember you bid to buy. For sale is this great find, an original family owned 1972 Impala with just 98,500 original miles. This car is in VERY GOOD condition. You just don't find them like this anymore. I will give you as an accurate description of the vehicle as possible, this includes 'warts and all'. I want you to know exactly what to expect from this vehicle, if I have missed something out then please e-mail me. Please remember this a 40 year old car, it is not a new Camry and does not drive like one! It's big, its brash and will attract attention where ever you go! History The elderly gentleman who bought this car new, bought in Texas in 1972, he then drove it to Las Vegas a year later when he moved home. He has had to give up driving due to ill health, so passed the car on to his son, who did not like it and never drove it, all he did was title it in his name. I then bought the car. I though it pretty cool, my wife on the other hand did not! Not old enough for her! And so here it is for sale. Bodywork The body is very solid and straight. The chassis is perfect. There are a few and chips that have been touched in, in the paint. the most obvious are the scratches on the driver side, where the old chap had difficulty parking. There is a small dent on the trunk lid and the start of very minor rust on the rocker panel ends. All these defects I have photographed in detail, with 1/4 dollar for comparison. The chrome is in great condition and shines like new, typical for a car that has spent its life in the desert. Interior The interior is in great condition for a desert car. There are however a few things that need to be done, they are; On the headliner above the driver, the stiching has dried out and come undone. This will need restitching, it is not torn anywhere. The lowers part of the driver side door panel has become brittle due to the desert heat and has some holes (see photo), also the speaker cover is missing. The area just behind the rear rightb passenger seat has dried and split a little, see photo. The carpet is a bit faded in areas. Mechanicals The car has a 350ci V8 with 2 barrell carb and automatic transmission. The engine fires up first time every time and runs smooth, though as I think its been sat for a while I think a tune up would be advised. I took it for its Smog test last week and it passed with no trouble. The man said it was perfect. Transmission shifts as it should, the brakes work perfectly with no veer, parking brake works, the steering is true and straight. It looks like it has had new ball joints, anti-role bar bushings and other suspension bushings and possibly new shocks. It pulls away very well and drives very well, though to me it feels firmer than i'm used to. But then I normally drive cars from the 50's. The tires have excellent tread, but I don't know how old they are though. The car is fitted with A/C, which I have not tested. Conclusion Overall this is a great original family owned car with low miles in very good condition. It does some very minor issues which I think I covered above, its 40 years old! If you need more information or extra photos, please ask. This car is ready to show or go cruising as it is. Terms and conditions Vehicle is sold as is, with no warranty given or implied.
