At auction is a show-winning 1974 MG Midget MK III with the desirable Datsun 5 speed transmission conversion. It's the rare round wheel arch model, the last production year of the chrome bumper cars. It won "Best in Class" in the 2009 MG Car Club of Washington DC's "Hunt Country Classic", and took Second in Class in 2011 (I have documentation). I'm a mature driver (age 58) and treat the car gently. It's well-maintained, appears stock/original, and looks fantastic. It's not a museum-quality car but a very nice driver that's cosmetically and mechanically in good condition, needs nothing, and is ready to drive. Also, it has a modern, professionally-installed Sony CD player which sounds great. The car has been professionally maintained and garaged since it was restored. The engine was professionally rebuilt approximately 15,000 miles ago (documented) with performance upgrades and a Datsun 5-speed transmission: both work very well. The electrical system has been rewired and all electrical components work. It's maintained by a prominent local British car specialist, Gassman Automotive (Google it) with a recent engine tune-up, brake work, a major suspension rebuild and more since 2009 (all documented). The body and metal parts (pans, sills, etc.) are in good condition. The convertible top is in like-new condition. The car was professionally repainted in the original Glacier White in 2007 and looks great. There is a dent in the passenger side cowl panel and a couple of small stone chips: none are significant and they will not show up in a photo. The car runs perfectly, burns absolutely no oil and can be driven with confidence. Major repairs have been performed by professionals and I have receipts for most of it: Correct Glacier White body color (trunk and engine bay also repainted); correct Autumn Leaf interior is in nice cond. Rubber bits, door & top seals have been replaced and are in good condition. 1275cc engine bored to 1293; fast road cam; roller rockers, correct SU carbs. Pertronix electronic ignition. Datsun 5-speed transmission & clutch assembly with Aeroquip hydraulic lines/fittings. Datsun alternator. Datsun starter. Hayden thermostatically controlled electric fan. Moss oil cooler kit. New, major front suspension rebuild including new steering rack assembly. New brake master cylinder; new calipers with ceramic pads; new rear brakes.
