Bringing Classic and Collectable Car Buyers & Seller Together Worldwide 2000 Pontiac Formula NHRA Edition LS1 350, 6 speed 87290 Original Miles (writen by owner) 2000 Pontiac Formula, NHRA Edition LS1 350, 6 speed, 3.42 rear end, all stock, technician/ collector owned. In total 215 NHRA Editions Firebirds were made in 2000, and only 97 of them were Formula’s. The NHRA package added special decals, a Hurst 6 Speed mated to a 3.42 rear end ratio, a power steering cooler and cost around $1100. NHRA’s were available only in Red, White, Black or Pewter. None of the extra Trans Am wings or scoops, just the go fast stuff. This particular Formula was Dyno’d at 328rwhp(rear wheel horsepower) and it is all stock except for a K&N drop in filter in the stock air filter housing. It has had two adult owners, the first was a lady. They reported to have a starter problem which ground teeth off of the flywheel. They had to replace the flywheel and replaced clutch components at that time. I have driven the car for several years as a nice weather commuter. It runs strong, but has not been abused. I have not been able to resist the occasional stop light challenge. I can tell you it will easily outrun a 40th Anniversary Corvette (LT1 300hp), and a Pontiac G8 GT (LS 6.0 361hp). This cars is in great mechanical condition, none of the typical problem areas. Both headlights work as they should, up and down with the switch, both power windows work at a reasonable speed. The heater and air conditioner perform very well; the car has a clean history and goes straight down the road. It is an LS1 and has some piston noise on cold start up, the previous owner had the car warm when I showed up, wasn’t noticeable then. I have put 17,000 miles on it in about 3 years with no problems, but it still makes some piston noise, more noticeable when cold. The odometer is now showing 87,290 original miles. Most of the 17,000 I put on the car were high way miles back and forth to work. Mobil 1 synthetic oil has been used since I have owned it. Tires are all worn evenly, but they will need replaced at some point. Brakes are good and have lots of wear left. The car looks very nice when cleaned up, the calipers and rotors are painted dark grey (not rust like most other Firebirds) the cloth interior is all stock and in great shape, no rips, carpet intact with no wear marks. It has the stock Monsoon CD player, it and all of the speakers work as they should. The car is a Hardtop, no T-top’s or convertible to leak, wear out or allow body flex. This car has a nice solid feel. No rust issues and no damage history or paint work in its past.
