Vehicle Detail
Those of you who follow my auctions know that I'm a physical therapist here in the Tucson area and I have a love for unmolested and usually one-owner vehicles and since I deal with a lot of the elderly population, I have a unique opportunity to find some of the cleanest cars in the nation. I have sold many of these little Samurais over the years as they are the preferred tow vehicle behind RVs and it seems that as these elderly people become more home bound, they will often sell these locally and I have been able find out through my patients of many that come available and I get the first opportunity to purchase them. This little Sami has been here in Tucson it's whole life so it is very solid with no rust anywhere on it. It is not the nicest one I have sold, but it is solid and seems to run great. I didn't pay a lot for it and I'm passing the savings on to the next owner. Most of my Samurais that I have sold end up going to the east coast or midwest where it is very hard to find a rust-free Samurai. I will outline the Samurai in more detail below. HISTORY: This Samurai spent it's whole life in Oracle, Arizona which is a small town just north of Tucson. I have seen it over the years and inquired about it a time or two but the owner was not willing to sell it. He used to restore old boats and would tow it behind his RV when he had to drive down to Mexico or Southern California to restore a boat. He would stay in the RV and use the Samurai as his around town driver until the boat restoration job was complete and then he would tow it back home. So many of the miles are actually towed miles and not driven miles. It was parked in a shed at the owner's property but the sun still got to the clear coat and it shows some sunburn. The boat restorer was the second owner and he just retired and that's why he was now willing to sell it. The original owner also lived in Oracle and has passed away. The original owner had backed into the Samurai when it was almost new and dented the right front fender. He had a kid from the local high school try and buff out the paint to make it look better and he buffed the clearcoat right off the right front fender and so through the years that fender has faded a different color than the rest of the Samurai but it was never repainted and all of the paint is original on this Samurai. EXTERIOR: The body is very straight except for that right front fender. Even the fender is easily fixable. The paint is faded and it has clearcoat burn but it still looks very presentable with a nice "pitina" to it. Excellent soft top from Besttop with clear windows and no rips or tears. The original rims are in good shape including the spare. The tires have about 50% tread left on them. Orignal hubs work fine. All lights and turn signals work as they should. All glass is in excellent condition. INTERIOR: The seats are rough but have nice covers on them that are brand new. Back seat is missing. Dash is perfect and everything works including the factory clock. It is AC equipped and blows cool. The owner stated that in the 8-9 years that he owned it that he has never used the AC and I believe it because when I tried it all kinds of stuff blew out from the vents like dirt, pine needles, leaves etc. But it blows nice and hard but probably would need a charge. There is a nice Kenwood CD/stereo that sounds very nice with upgraded speakers in the factory locations. The carpet was removed by the second owner and he liked it just metal as it was easier to clean. There is some white paint spillage in the cargo area viseable in the pictures but the floors are perfect with no rust at all. All windows roll up and down nicely and doors lock as they should. All gauges work as they should including fuel and tach. Trans shifts just fine through the gears and transfer case shifts fine as well. All 4WD components work as they should. Never smoked in. Heater blows hot. MECHANICAL: The engine and engine compartment are very clean and look to be very well maintained. The oil has always been changed regularly in the Samurai according to the second owner. It was just recently changed again. There are no leaks of any kind. Doesn't burn any oil. Drives straight and true and stops very well. Has a little shutter in the wheel at about 50 mph so the wheels will probably need balancing if that bothers you. The second owner had the carb send to Petroworks in California which is a shop that specializes in Samurais and it was completely gone through about 3 years ago. It runs without hesitation and starts right up immediately and idles perfect. These carbs can be trouble but this one seems to be working perfectly. Has newer plugs and wires. Seems to be a real good little driver with no mechanical issues that I can tell. Also comes with a tow bar if desired. SUMMARY: This is a real solid hard to find JX model with working AC. It could become a perfect platform for a rockcrawler project, a perfect hunting rig as is right now or a excellent restoration project with minimal work to complete. It drives strong and these get great gas mileage so it also could be a nice daily driver although I wouldn't recommend these as highway commuters as they top out at about 65 mph. This Samurai will be sold as a "no reserve" auction so the highest bidder will get the Samurai. If you would like to make an offer on the Samurai, I am certainly willing to listen. I know these vehicles very well and I know what they are worth in this condition so this will be a great deal for someone. I also have another super nice Samurai that will be available in a few weeks, so check back if you would like. Check my feedback and the pictures and bid with confidence. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time as it will be for sale locally as well. There is a $500 deposit due via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Good luck!!On Feb-23-12 at 07:22:00 PST, seller added the following information: I have been getting a lot of questions about my other Samurai that I mentioned in the ad. I listed that one here on eBay two days ago and I had a "buy it now" price attached to that Samurai. It sold in less than an hour so it is no longer available and will be on it's way up to Michigan in the next few days. So please disregard that statement about the other Samurai in the earlier listing. Thanks and good luck!
