Vehicle Detail

I purchased this Mercedes in New Jersey in 1984 and shortly , my wife and I drove it to our home in Nevada. We had some maintenance work done in Las Vegas and were given a written appraisal of $8,500 if we decided to sell it at that time (August 1985). Sorry to say, because of circumstances, we did not drive the vehicle for many years nor protected it from the sun. There is some rust in the trunk from "back-East" moisture and the sun has killed the 4 tires. In order to get it running it would need body work, complete tune-up, tires and tender love and care. My wife always loved the wood work on the dashboard and the green leather seats (which sad to say, one seat is badly damaged, but most of the interior is still in good shape). You buy it as is. The automobile features four doors, a sunroof, 4-speed stick shift, 2 tone light and dark green paint and nostalgia. I was able to get the following info online and do not guarantee its accuracy. History of 1967 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL "Project Car"....3.0L (M189) 6 cyl inline SOHC Bosch fuel injection 2996 cc engine. Although not exported to the US until 1970, this car was purchased in Germany and shipped to the States. Both the 300SE and 300SEL came with the M189 2996 cm/3 engine, originally developed for the Adenauers. It had a modern six-plunger pump that adjusted automatically to accelerator pedal pressure, engine speed, atmospheric pressure, and cooling water temperature, to deliver the proper mixture depending on driving conditions. Producing 170 bhp (130kW) at 5,400 rpm the cars could accelerate to 200 km/h (195 km/h with automatic transmission) and reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 12 seconds. From 1965 to 1967 fewer than 3,000 W109s were produced. however, approx. 130,000 of the less powerful 250 S/SE models were built during the first two years of the W108/109's existence. The suspension system featured a reinforced rear axle with hydro-pneumatic compensating spring. The car sat on larger wheels (14") and had disc brakes on front and rear. The W109 was identical to the W108, but freatured an extended wheelbase of 115 mm (4.5 in) and self-levelling air suspension. This was seen as a successor to the W112 300SEL that was originally intended as an interim car between the 300 Adenauer (W189) and 600 (W100) limousines. However, its success as "premium flagship" convinced Daimler to add a LWB car to the model range. from that moment on all future S-Class modes would feature a LWB line. MAKE THIS A HOLIDAY PROJECT ! After I received a message I checked out the body and I am sad to say it has a lot of rust under the fenders, along the bottom of the body and the wheel wells in the trunk are rusted out. The inside is still fine but the rust from New Jersey dampness is a problem. You buy it as is and it will be your problem. Sorry Because of the rust problem I am reducing the price to $1990
